Vavle adjustment for an 88 gmc jimmy

How far do I turn the adjustor after the pushrod gets tight? 1/4 or half turn??

I always do about 1/4 turn after they quit ticking

What the hell is a "vavle"?????? Anything like a "vulva"??? :D :D :D
For what it's worth, I usually go 1/2 to 3/4 more after the slack is taken up.
