I don't have it on my boat, but I had the opportunity to drive a Howard Bullett powered with a 525 that had dual ram full hydraulic to the helm, you can definitely feel the difference. At 70 and above I think it is a great thing to have for peace of mind.

I've got Imco dual ram to the helm, but it's on a boat with fishin' boat mota's so I don't know if that counts. ;)

Man, that's moving. Mine goes that fast on the trailer, but my truck has hydraulic steering so I feel pretty safe. :D :D :D
All joking aside, it's a great investment and could save your life down the road. ;)

Which one. I've got two of them. One on each side. ;) There is a video over on www.riverratlife.com of it running last weekend (you've seen it). Only ran mid-90's then, but it was kind of rough. It's been much faster than that. ;)

We run right around 80
twin ram for the twin drives  IMCO
Was cable with hyd assist but got tired of the slop and poor control at speeds so I added full IMCO to the helm with both ps pumps feeding the system.
an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY on anything going over 60!!!!
Advantage should have known and been honest about that!

Hey now, I see a ski tow on HH's Cig. He can't be all bad. You going to run the Catalina Ski Race 06?...
My buddy Kyle in the back row of the keys has a Spectre similar to Jordy's... Can't ski behind it but man what a magic carpet ride...
Nice rig HH... :D :D

I know that boat! Very, Very Nice rig. Are you sure you don't want to take a bunch of life off your motors and drives pulling skiers that won't pay your bills? I've got a flock of Aussies all over me for rides next year...
And I'm not talking 21' F1 rides...

Q. Why does a skier always put his thumb up to go faster?
A. Because he doesn't have to buy a new thumb if it breaks.

Just get an observer on your team and all those problems go sailing away... My favorite involves a certain boat guy riding backwards in a big turbo Schiada last night at Irvine Lake... Skier wants more, observer gives him the finger. Problem solved. I do it quite often, actually... :p
Have lotsa guys that won't need an hour ride, they just want a smooth Cig ride... And you ARE the man, after all... :)

Other than in Irvine, where is lake Irvine?

Riverkid

Irvine Lake is a privately owned small lake up around the 241 toll road and Santiago Canyon Road. Heck, I used to work the boat drags there in high schooll! A select few have permisssion to run hard on that lake, after normal "fishing hours"...

I just picked up a barely used twin Marine Machine setup for $700 (assist only). By the time I'm done with stainless outside hoses/fittings, I'll be about $1200 into it. If you're familiar with Marine Machine, that's a smokin price (new retail is about $3500). In fact I'm so pumped about the savings, just my continue to bargain shop for a hyd helm setup and go for it.
Some guys over at OSO also manufacture their own systems at a good price.
Going in my 210 Hallett with 550-600hp motor....if I ever get off my ass to finish it!

Speaking of steering, a week or so ago there was auction on ebay for a new Imco two ram assist system. Nobody sprung for it at $1,600, which is a pretty good price.

That's kind of "Xtreme" lol
Go with a full swim step like you see on HH's boat. I know somebody who put one on his 26' Sanger and it looks bad ass. that'll give you the added room, just won't be able to trim the drive up as much while towing. Save you major coin and add a lot of functionality to your rear end (so to speak).

Thought about that but then I really wouldn't be able to trim the drive up at all.

Put a hinged "hatch" in the step that the drive could push up on trailer trim?...

Then again, jsut bump those steps up and you should be good (so long nothing is in the way inside).
I haven't installed mine yet, I too might be facing the same problem. My step is a one piece molded, so if I don't have room, I'm looking for the aforementioned one piece aluminum step (which is kinda cool anyway, those things are huge), or going to two split steps like on your boat.
That's what off season is for!

Look into the WPM system before you buy any. I compared all of the systems out there, Mayfair, Imco, Lathem, WPM, and WPM took it easily. Just a very nice system that is a lot of bang for the buck.
