My jump drive died. 128MB Dell/Lexar USB Memory Key
Tried it on 6 different computers / 18 USB ports.
Got no reaction from any of them.
Played with it on my laptop and got the machine to see the drive, but not the data. The drive info showed 0 free space, 0 used space, but the color "Pie Chart" was solid blue. (used space)
Anyone have any tips or connections for data recovery. I called one place on the net and they wanted $100 just to look at it and up to $1,000 to recover the data.
There was some important stuff on it, but nothing worth that much, that I can't re-create. Just gonna take same time.
Thanks in advance.

most of those things have a 2nd FAT (File allocation table), it sounds like the FAT got mixed up.
try a PM to Mr.Racer277, he is the resident GEEK :p :)

Badcopy pro. If you're claiming your OS can see the jumpdrive in explorer and it shows the drive is full and you can't access it it could be a bad block in the flash memory. If you aren't able to right click format the drive(will lose data), then you can try using Badcopy pro. I've deleted/formatted data on floppy disks and this program was able to recover them. You can look at cracks.am for a serial number(uber xxx popups), but from my understanding, thats against the law. Good luck.
For shites and giggles you should also try using a female-male adapter(like a USB extension cord), as well as a USB hub, a legacy USB1.0 reader, or even a box running UX or OSX.

The Beev has some good ideas. You may get lucky and get it to respond at some point.
We send HD's out to this place: http://www.datarecoveryspecialist.com/index.htm
They aren't $1K, but it will be a few hundred.
Also, extensively search the pc's that the data came from originally. You may have some of the files short of a few changes somewhere.
Good Luck.

heres something that may work. I would try it from the laptop since it actually saw the drive. open a command prompt. type chkdsk x: /f where x equals the drive letter of the flash drive. the /f switch is for fix errors. Sometimes it worky sometimes it no worky. If it works quickly copy your stuff before your drive takes a dump.
