But to lose to the worst team of last year???!!!!

Marty better make some adjustments. The Chargers can't cover anybody man to man, they are getting zero pressure on Bledsoe and they've completely abandoned the run by the second possession of the season.

Please refer to my "worst officiated game" I've even seen post. Did the Cowboys have a single penalty called on them in the second half?
Tell me about it. There were so many PI non calls involving Dallas DB's. But Jammer even goes near a play and he's called, what 3 times - 2 for holding :hammerhea

LUVNLIFE
09-12-2005, 03:59 PM
Really? Is that why they lost? The only reason they lost, for those that did not actually watch the game, is because their defensive backs couldn't cover Tupperware.
That isn't a reason, that's why they play the game, to see who is better. The Cowboys were a better team. That is they were a better team today. :D

The Cowboys are actually a very good team. They were a 10-6 playoff team two years ago. Then, a month before last season opener, they lost their starting QB to drugs and had a poor season. They are definately a lot better NOW than they were two seasons ago. I'd look for the Cowboys to win 11 games this season. That defensive backfield is very good, even if they were allowed to play pretty fast and loose with the rules today.
Gee everyone always says that the Raiders are the only team that has issues with players and drugs. Don't tell me another team has drug issues :2purples: Seems that the Dolphins have a little issue also :2purples: :D :D

Steelers score on their first 6 possessions and rout the Titans
Thanks to Willie Parker and Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers proved they can win with flash and dash, not just with big backs and big hits.
Parker, a college backup who adds speed to the NFL’s most run-heavy offense, had a dazzling first career start with 161 yards rushing and a long reception, and a mistake-free Roethlisberger threw for two scores in a 34-7 rout of the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Pittsburgh’s starting offense didn’t score a touchdown during a dreadful preseason that admittedly concerned coach Bill Cowher, but Roethlisberger said he wasn’t worried. And for good reason — the Steelers scored on their first six possessions, four touchdowns and two field goals, with most of the same starters but with a much different look offensively from last year’s franchise-best 15-1 team.
http://msnbcmedia.msn.com/j/msnbc/Components/Photos/050911/050911_parker_vmed_2p.widec.jpg
The Steelers won their 15th in a row during the regular season, four short of the Patriots’ NFL record they stopped last season. Roethlisberger improved to 14-0 as an NFL starter during the season, and his play was as perfect as his record. So was his perfect 158.3 passer rating; he is the first NFL quarterback since Kansas City’s Trent Green in 2003 to have a perfect rating.

Thank you for that brief overview on the history of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
History of Football
American football was started in 1879 with rules instituted by Walter Camp.
Derived from the English game of rugby, American football was started in 1879 with rules instituted by Walter Camp, player and coach at Yale University.
Walter Camp
Walter Camp was born April 17, 1859, in New Haven, Connecticut. He attended Yale from 1876 to 1882, where he studied medicine and business. Walter Camp was an author, athletic director, chairman of the board of the New Haven Clock Company, and director of the Peck Brothers Company. He was general athletic director and head advisory football coach at Yale University from 1888-1914, and chairman of the Yale football committee from 1888-1912. Camp played football at Yale and helped evolve the rules of the game away from Rugby and Soccer rules into the rules of American Football as we know them today.
One precursor to Walter Camp's influence was William Ebb Ellis, a student at the Rugby School in England.
In 1823, Ellis was the first person noted for picking up the ball during the soccer game and running with it, thereby breaking and changing the rules. In 1876, at the Massosoit convention, the the first attempts at writing down the rules of American football were made. Walter Camp edited every American Football rulebook until his death in 1925.
Walter Camp contibuted the following changes from Rugby and Soccer to American football:
one side retained undisputed possession of the ball, until that side gives up the ball as a result of its own violations
the line of scrimmage
11 on a team instead of 15
created the quarter-back and center positions
forward pass
standardized the scoring system, numerical scoring
created the safety, interference, penalties, and the neutral zone
tackling as low as the knee was permitted - 1888
a touchdown increased in value to six points and field goals went down to three points - 1912
The NFL or the National Football League, was formed in 1920.

"Behind a nearly impenetrable defense and another stirring performance by rookie RB Cadillac Williams, Tampa Bay beat Buffalo, 19-3, and improved to 2-0.
There were, as advertised, two rugged defenses on the field Sunday as the Buffalo Bills visited the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Raymond James Stadium. Head-to-head, that might have been an even matchup. The Buccaneers, however, had the difference-maker.
That would be, of course, Cadillac Williams. "
