Alright so I got a 67 Weimann and cut out the old 'glass tanks and had some custom tanks made...

I was thinking of 'glassing in some wood and then weld on some angle brackets. Thus enabling the use of some lag bolts to bolt it in. That's what I've come up with...

Now what's the best way to glass these in mounts in? Some one please help ... it needs to be back to the fabricators by Fri to have the mounts welded, the fill neck, and the pickup fitting welded on...

If you search on boatdesign.net you will find the info your looking for. It will probably be my thread advise.

You need to build some tank bulkheads out of 3/4" plywood. Set the tanks in there and use cardboard to make templates that fit the shape of the boat like the tanks themselves. When you do the final fit on the bulkheads make sure that you have 1/4" -1/2" gap all the way around them or they will cause stress cracks in the boat. Mark where they need to be in the boat, remove the tanks and bulkheads and prep yourself an area about 4" on both sides then tab in the bulkheads with a 4" wide piece of 2oz mat and cloth tape. Have your tank guys put a 1 1/2" angle on the top ends of both tanks (flats flush with the ends of the tanks facing fore and aft), then put carpet between the tanks and the boat, slide the tanks in and thru-bolt them to the bulkheads. Clear as mud right?
Call me if you have any questions...

Is some mounts like this going to cause stress fractures? I have tabs welded to the sides of the tanks and plan on lag bolting the tanks to here...
