Had SangerMike, Mike's Mobile Car Care (http://www.mikesmobilecarcare.com/index.html), come up and give the boat a little polish job. Now me being a farmboy I had no idea how much was involved. I thought he was just going to rub some special wax on it and and wipe it off. Boy was I wrong.
First he started wet sanding the whole boat. Paint was a little on the rough side according to him. I was and am always nervous about taking sandpaper to the paint.
http://www.schoutenranch.com/miscboat/440/new/wetsand.JPG
After that he started rubbing it out but I assumed he was waxing it. I was wrong again.
http://www.schoutenranch.com/miscboat/440/new/rub.JPG
I was rubbing out the cav plates. I did get to help a little.
http://www.schoutenranch.com/miscboat/440/new/platepolish.JPG
Then it went outside for a bath.
http://www.schoutenranch.com/miscboat/440/new/a5.JPG
And he did the inside as well.
http://www.schoutenranch.com/miscboat/440/new/a3.JPG
http://www.schoutenranch.com/miscboat/440/new/a2.JPG
Then he dried it off.

*Dinner Break*
Once back in the shop he started waxing it.

6 1/2 hrs later this was the final result.

For 25 yr old laquer paint its showing its age. But I can't believe how it turned out. In person its a night and day difference.

Looks tits Mike and I have done wet sanding to see the end result and it really is amazing the finish you can achieve with some elbow grease and wax applied to it .........( . )( . ).............Time consuming though !

Man, get a look at the reflection of the corrugated shop in the bow. That black paint is like a mirror again. :D
I thought he was just going to rub some special wax on it and and wipe it off.
Sanger Mike didn't wash & wax that boat, he totally detailed it. I've known him quite a while and he's a real professional who's been at it for years. He raised two great kids through his detailing. Knows what he's doing.

Great looking results! Congrats to you both.
I love the look that lacquer has when it's been rubbed out. I can see the shine clear over here in North Carolina. Sanger Mike, I'm impressed!
KF, imagine if he'd come at your boat with a 6" DA and 220 grit! I spent last night sanding and buffing some 30 year old Raysoncraft heavy metalflake gelcoat that had never been buffed. Had to start in some areas with 220, then 400, then 1000 before getting the xtra-cut out on the wool pad! I've still got to polish and wax it. It's still got some areas on the deck that just aren't what they should be. Pinholed in some areas- I think it had a wet towel or some plastic tarp sit on it in the past...not to start hijacking this thread, but anybody know how to correct this short of repainting?? Probably could regel with clear over the metalflake...

The real question will be are your gonna take care of it after all his hard work????. Or do you bribe Taylor with driving priviledge's "FARMBOY" :D :D . You should of had Mike rub on the Dodge for some good luck, hope it's not hurt to bad. By the way, nice job Mike, are you mobile?. Bobbys headed to Hawaii for a bikini contest :jawdrop:  (judging) and I could use some help.

Which heads are those and where did you get a blower manifold to match? Finding HP parts for RB motors has got to be an art.
