View Full Version : For My 200th Post, Here Are My Own Grievances...

1. Why do some waiters refuse to write anything down when they take your order? They never get the order right. I have seen these jackballs come back to the table to be reminded of what they have forgotten about in the space of 60 seconds. What exactly is the downside to simply scribbling "Chick parm, spag, x-sauce, Coke" on a tablet? Are these people allergic to number-two pencils? Every time a waiter has insisted upon demonstrating his superlative memory skills, I never get exactly what I ordered.
2. Here's one that has bothered me for years. Yesterday I saw a headline: "Bush Accepts Responsibility for Katrina Blunders." We are forever hearing political or business leaders saying something like this in the face of gross incompetence. "Accepts responsibility" is an absolutely meaningless phrase in this context, and you hear it all the time. It somehow connotes a noble sentiment, but you know President Bush does not expect to be fired or prosecuted or fined or anything. All he'll do is look contrite for the media and then expect to go on with his business. It's just words.
3. I am SICK TO DEATH of this movie plot: Girl falls in love with a guy who has told her some lie about himself. Later she discovers the lie, dumps him...but they all live happily ever at the end. I have seen variations of this stupid sitcom premise a million times, from The Truth About Cats and Dogs and While You Were Sleeping to Coming to America and About a Boy. So many people told me that The Wedding Crashers was a hilarious movie, but guess what? It was a regurgitation of the same freakin' plot again! OK, OK, I get it. Men lie! Can we move on?
4. And while we're on the subject of movies...Harry Potter. If wizards can do all these tricks and magic, why are there any "poor" ones? (HarryÂ’s best friend canÂ’t afford treats, if you recall, and has to have hand-me-down wands and clothes). Why wouldnÂ’t a wizard just zap up some money? Or if that's illegal, just go to a casino in Vegas and enchant his way to a fortune? Also, donÂ’t students at the age of 11 still need to learn things like English and Math and History? If all they study are spells and potions, doesn't that make them mighty dull and dumb about the rest of the world? And what do students actually DO once they graduate? If no one is supposed to practice witchcraft in the "muggle" world, then why learn all about it? Do you just travel around doing tricks? Get a job teaching at Hogwart's? There seem to be very limited opportunities.
5. Have you ever called your cable-TV company, been asked by a robotic voice to punch in your account number, be put on hold...only to be connected to a human who asks for your account number? Well, why the hell did I have to enter it in the first place? And what's with these companies who want you to talk to phone robots? I HATE these voice-recognition things. I want to talk to a person. Does anybody actually want to talk to a friggin' robot?
6. Selfish drivers. Enough said.
7. And what's up with all these Internet idiots who don't know when to shut their trap when posting to message boards? :p

How come when there's a power outage and the TV newscasters tell everyone to keep watching for details on when "your power" is going to be back on? If they gots no power, they ain't watchin... dumassmuthaphuchersombiiches.

Regarding #3 Some of the movies you mentioned, uh, the girl lied, the guy found out and still wanted to marry her. So I guess Women lie as well.

Actually in one of the later books (not reflected in the movie chain) Ron's family wins a "lotto" type award and becomes very rich. They can also trace their Wizard lineage back farther then any other wizard family, but are humble and don't go around calling 1/2 wizards "mud bloods" (bad word)
They do graduate and use their craft "not around muggles", some teach, others raise dragons, some are just very successfull house witches :D
gosh, I had certain "expectations" regarding your "pet peeves"...I expected to be taken into the "world of boating" and hear stories about manufacturer's that "talk their boat up" and then it doesn't deliver.......or hidden sandbars......or the drag of being recognized in public......or the drag of having to hang out and photograph beautiful models only to discover their is nothing upstairs ...........Sorry, guess I had you typecasted, my mistake ;)

Yes, Deb, that is why I wrote "variations" of this plot. Subsituting a woman for a man is one such variation. But 95 percent of the time, it's a guy. :)

Interesting. Thanks for the enlightenment.

I accept your apology. :p Actually, I could tell you stories of this nature, but then the manufacturers might pull their advertising!

For my 5,555th post, here are my grievances:
* Would post whores still post on every fricking thread if there were no post counts?
* Why does the TV news have stories about programs that just ended?! Who told them that a TV show on their channel was news?
* When will someone white finally call guys like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton racists?
* Who are these people who don't want cops to act like cops (do their jobs)?! Anyone who's ever been robbed, beaten, attacked, raped, mugged, had shit stolen, etc., would NEVER keep cops from doing their jobs.
* When did it become OK to hate this country?
* Why is it that the vast majority of people who hate this country are rich white people?
* Why doesn't anyone here talk about how the prices of boats have skyrocketed faster than many other products? (I know concrete, steel, gas and building products' prices have shot up due to demands in China - are the Chinese buying lots of custom boats?!)
* Why do people allow unions to spend millions of dollars on political campaigns?! (Why are union people allowing their dues to be spent bashing our governor?)
* Are people against the war in Iraq because our soldiers are dying? If so, would they be for the war in Iraq if none of our soldiers were dying?
* How do we know Hot Boat has a magazine?
* When will I get my Hot Boat t-shirt that was promised to me when I re-upped my subscription?

1. Why would a boat magazine do an article on powder coatings and talk about the color selection and have a ton of pictures in black and white? (I won't name the magazine ;) ).
2. Why would the same magazine post color graphs in black and white making the graph completely useless?
3. Why do people on the freeway attempt to "close the door" on someone trying to pass them and then get so upset when you get by them anyway? Are they pissed off that their attempt to phuck-you actually failed?
4. Why would a mexican who's name is not bob and owns a warlock call himself shockwave bob? We know he is not funny, so it can't be a joke. :D

Hey, did Brian ever tell you about our Havasu trip when we met Richie Valenz's cousin from Pacoima? Ask him about the carne asada they made us, and mention "Big Shirly".........it is sure to elicit a world famous Brian "Oh, phuck, you don't even know half the story" beginning to a story!

I get that same preface from him every day. That guy doesn't have enough to do (at work, that is). Now I'm getting the daily jobsite updates. I keep telling him until they drop one of those bigass tilt up walls on some poor stiff, I'm not interested...
Oh, and Troy is selling all his shiat again... Like new...

Grievance: Restaurant Soda Water / club soda (for my bourbon) that has no fizzle and is as flat as tap water!
