Has anyone tried Mothers clay bar on there boat? It says its safe for clear coats but what about gel coat. Any info Help appreciated. Thanks :idea:

Thanks for the help. Want to clay bar it then polish it then wax it should keep me busy for a while. Have some weird looking dull spots in the gell. Hope this works.

Hey Mike, hows the motor?? Use a good glaze and a buffer. Finish up w/ a good carnauba.

Motors all done. Should be putting it in real soon. Should be over 600 HP. Cant wait to hear it run again. See you at the lake. ;)

The clay will work with what may be sitting on top of the gel (overspray, etc) buy you need to get an oxidation treatment on the dull spot. That is what is happening there and the clay bar does not remove oxidation, just things sitting on the surface.

If you look at it from certain angles it looks spotty or blotchy. Kinda dull. Mostly the deck. The sides look great just the deck looks dull. Hope this works.

Just make sure with whatever product you use, try and apply the same pressure across the entire bow if doing it by hand. If not, you will have some spots brighter than other spots and that will drive you nuts trying to make it look consistent. Good luck.
