Edlebrock what? Intake, carb, heads, what do you need help with?

Carbs.
New 750 cfm, Weiand tunnel ram. .715 lift, intake duration @ .050-260, exhaust duration @ .050 273. It will not idle. It jumps around; 2k to 1200, then slowly starts to die. Good fuel pressure and timing is close. (Hard to set timing with idle changing!)
I am thinking I need to change the springs to a weaker one.
Any thoughts??
Thanks

Sounds like a vacumn leak. Spray some wd-40 around the edges of the intake while it's running and see if it sucks it in somewhere. Also around the carb mounting gaskets. You can also use either and watch for the engine to pick up when you hit the leak. Be careful with the either.

Hi Duane,
I have tried that. But, I will do it again. I am just getting a little frustrated with this Black Bi**h!!! I got the new fuel lines done. Hopefully in the water today. I was hoping for Ming next weekend, but I think I will hold off.

To be honest, My luck has never been good with an Edelbrock carb on a boat. I know a lot of people use them and like them. They work better on a car. Put on a 0-80537 Holley and check the performance gains. Just my experience or .oo2.

What lifters and lash are you running?? If you set the idle speed at 2K, will it idle evenly there? ..MP

Big cam??? You'll need to drill the throttle plates on the pirmaries to get it to idle???

This combo worked for him at CFW before he melted the pistons.

Tim,
With all the silt you found in the tanks, I'd take the carbs apart for a real good cleaning. Even though you have a real good filter in line, you might be surprised at how much real fine stuff still gets through.

Ahhhh.... I see. Disregard then. :D

Well then if this is the case, my hands are in the air. It is hard to keep up with Tim even when the boat isn't running. :coffeycup

Fleetimus,
You can check for your rod spring question pretty easily. On an AFB (sorry, still stuck in the Carter days) you can open the metering rod cover with the engine running and look at the top of the rod piston. You don't need to remove the cover, just loosen the screw and rotate the cover out of the way. You can then push down on the rod's piston to verify that its at the bottom of it's bore. If it's at the bottom of the bore at idle, no need to go weaker.
