This just breaks my heart! I know a lot of people did not have any choice but I don't think I could leave my dogs behind! Instead of donating to the Red Cross I have given to the New Orleans Humane Society. The animals are defenseless creatures. So sad!!!! :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown: :frown:

That does it. I'm taking my vacation and going down there. I actually did look into the Red Cross to do just that but you have to take a class first and they have none available.

I couldnt imagine leaving those animals behind. Its so sad. My animals are like my family. :frown: Is there a way (a website maybe) to adopt some of the animals left behind? I know I heard recently that someone privately financed a plane to bring them to some shelters in California............... how are the people ever going to be reunited with them? :frown: :frown:

They probably won't. Most of the animals most likely belonged to the poorest of the poor there and the owners are relocated by now.

it was on the news today that somene here in so cal sported the cash for a big jet. They have already made 2 trips to bring pets out here to be cared for if and when they find the owners. I'm sure the same thing is happing other places too.
I agree it's a heart breaker to see that!

They just had a giant pet adoption at the local Petsmart out here that featured the animals rescuded from New Orleans. There was a line a mile long of people who were waiting to sign the papers to their new dog... :crossx: :crossx:

Ouch, that kinda tugs on the ol'heartstrings doesn't it..
FYI Phoenix peeps..
They have brought hundreds of dogs to to Phoenix and the Humane society (I think) is posting info on them on petfinder.com in hopes of finding their families (or vise versa).
If no claims are made to the dog(s) withing 4 or 5 weeks they will be available for adoption.

I can't imagine that those dogs weren't rescued after the photographer snapped "the shot". Maybe it's wrong, but I thought of all the pets first.
