I am thinking about a new boat, so I am gauging the interest that there could be in mine, this has been a great boat but I have had very little time to enjoy it and it is time for a new boat project if I can get what I want out of it:
Details:
Boat
2004 Magic Wizard, open bow mid cabin. (approx 45 hours)
Blue flamed gel coat with flames up the transom of the boat.
Custom interior with graphic matching gel coated electronic dropdown bolster seats
Total custom interior in mid cabin with lighting and 2 coolers with matching Magic padded logo covers on them. 2 love seats with plenty of room.
Bimini top (in matching blue), I had the stock “push pin” type top holders replaced with “mushroom” style tips for ease of use and flush mounting when not in use.
Sliding/locking cabin door for entrance to mid cabin.
Molded floor with snap out carpet (grey carpet)
Sony head unit (XM compatible) with Sony 10 disk changer (never been used), 800 watt Sony amp with 4 Sony 6x9Â’s and 2 kicker 10Â’s. Billet audio covers on all speakers (brand new) with flamed graphics to match boat including the stereo cover and billet IPOD holder.
Gaffrig gauges, Merc offshore throttle controls, electric hatch, electric “pop up” nav-light on the rear (the rear nav-light rises like a car antenna). “fireboy” (automatic halon fire safe system)
Matching bouy’s (blue and white) with both blue and silver “floating lines” (new with only 1 use on them)
Mechanicals
Mercury 496 HO- this engine was built up with Raylar performance engine kit, it has the insurability of the 496 almost the power of the 525hp (dyno sheets for 520+hp go with the boat) this was the boat and engine used by ***boat for the article on the Raylar kit. The kits includes: new aluminum heads (ported and polished with new springs, valves and roller rockers) new cam (Raylar specs) and Raylar “cool gap” intake manifold. Motor has a total of approx 45 hours on it!!!! The oil has been changed 3 times.
The drive is a Bravo XR with drive shower, currently running a 28p (labbed down to 27ish by Bronson hill)
I have full IMCO hydraulic (from the helm) steering on the boat with 2 rams (all stainless) with polished tubes on the rams, this is tilt adjustable
The trailer is a white triple axle, with grey carpeted bunks, chrome 15” wheels (very clean)
The boat has been used out in Havasu, I store the boat in Needles.
If you are interested, please PM me and I will contact you, the asking price is $84,999
Included with the purchase (if the price is what I want will be a brand new Garmin full color chart plotting GPS).
There are lots of little details of the boat to see, let me know if you need anything else.

Single engine 496 in a 34' boat? What's the speed like?

Really close on those speeds. I had a 29' with a 500 HP motor and saw 72 at its best, so you should get just a little more out of this one.

the boat should be good for low 70's  but your insurance will think that it is a regular HO worth 65ish

Doesn't really matter with most insurance carriers until you hit the 75mph barrier..

Nope.... Unless you are insured with some fly-by-night company like "Shifting Sands Mutual" !!
You will just be unable to recover the extra expense of what you spent on the motor upgrade.

thats what i figured, so it would be a wash on the kit....

Really? If you understate your HP and speed your insurance company can't deny a claim?

speed is relative to how it is propped
tell them it has a 24p on it
it does run the 496 motor, so as long as there is no blower, well the power added questionable.
tell them if you wish, i was not impliy that is it cool to lie to the insurance companies
but there is a difference when you insure a boat with a 496 in it and one with a 525hp in it, that was my main point

Sorry for the hijack.. I guess you have to go with what makes you feel comfortable. With some of the high profile accidents in high performance boats recently, I thought that Insurance companies were taking a closer look at the power and speeds in boats before paying on substantial claims.

I have to disagree with this statement. You no longer are insuring a boat with a 496 in it, right?
I'm not trying to be a d$ck, but I'd hate to see someone lose their ass.
Good luck!
it is still a 496 Ho motor, it just has different heads, cam and intake

For starters, none of the regular insurance companies will take anything over 500hp weather it goes 75 or not..from what I was told if the hp is over 500, end of conversation.
I don't want to screw up your post with my bitterness over insurance  ..long story
Not true at all, my boat is running under 75 MPH legitimately and Progressive is well aware that they are insuring twins totalling 750 HP...

But once your purple monstas go in, your twins now total much more than 750 HP, correct?

Greg
If during the application process in securing coverage you "misrepresent" whatever is asked, then you would have a problem. Nowhere will you find (98% of the time) anywhere in the policy that it states you have to put the carrier on notice of any performance changes to the boat. Typically, you will just get your renewal mailed to you each and every year thereafter, NOT including any renewal questionnaire what so ever.
When my project is completed, I will still have twin 496 MAGS, but with 600HP each. If something happens to the boat, I am out the cost of the (2) engines above and beyond what the carrier would pay for the stock MAGS.

Correct, but no policy language or stipulation that mandates that they be informed or advised of any performance or engine modifications.
You could easily prop a boat to run 20 mph under what it is capable of, then re-prop after getting the coverage. Do you see how this would not effect you the policyholder in a misrepresentation allegation ?

Like I said, I guess you need to go with what makes you comfortable as far as your insurance. I am paying about $2700/year but I am not worried about any questions regarding HP and/or speed if I ever need to make a claim.
Progressive won't insure my boat so I don't know what their policy states regarding changes to the boats after the initial policy is written. If you have read your policy and are comfortable with what you have then go for it.

WTF.... what premium is someone concerned with??? CW, don't worry about what the cost of insurance is going to be for someone. If they are concerned, have them quote a cat and your boat will be sold to them.
What's the worse case, $1100/year regardless of 496 or 525? Cry me a river.

i hope i get a buyer, but i am not in a rush to sell it as i don't have to have a new boat if the tiem is not right. the buyer should be able to afford the coverage if they can afford the boat.

I bought a boat in June of this year in Pheonix and had to pay a use tax when I registered it in ca. BS. I thought I was going to save some coin. Wrong!!!!!!!!
