Is it normal to get a Supplemental Sales Tax bill a year after the completeion of my boat? I already paid $6000 in sales tax and they want another $1600.

Details about why you are being hit by sales tax in AZ for Cali boat (Schiada?), and other non-identifying but descriptive points....peeps on this board have pretty good knowledge about most tax situations. :)

It technically was an AZ. delivery or it was bought in AZ. (built in CA. )
So I will have to spend some time on the phone tomorrow with them.

If for some reason insufficient sales tax was paid in the beginning, then any remaining tax, incuding interest and penalties, would be required later.
It's possible that initially, you paid only the State portion (5% I think), but didn't pay any County or local sales tax. Depending on the County/City the transaction took place in, there could be anywhere from 2 to 4% outstanding. AZ DOR collects the tax for distribution to those entities.
