i just changed the oil in my merc 6.2 for the first time. i used valoline 20/50 racing oil. is this oil good enough? i normaly drive the boat in 80 to 110 degree weather. also why does the oil take so damned long to drain out ? is this normal?
any help is much appreciated .thanks for your thoughts in advance. the gf is feakin out :D

any help is much appreciated .thanks for your thoughts in advance. the gf is feakin out :D The 20/50 will work fine. You should run boat for about 10 min, get the oil warm then change it. I imagine you are draining it out hose on bottom of the pan. I would get a high volume pump and drain thru dip stick.

i ran the boat long enough to get dirty looks from all the nieghbors(just shy of ten min.)and at different lower rpms. yeah i used the little hose out the bottom and loosend the oil fill cap in hopes that it would floww i little better. after about 4 quarts came out it pretty much stopped flowing and started dripping.put the required 5.5 quarts in and and soon as i did irealized that i still had quite a bit of oil in there . so i drained out 1.5 quarts and the dip reads where it's suposed to. how does the pump thing work?

Couple different styles, some screw on top and you hand pump it. Or this style Oil Change (http://overtons.com/cgi-bin/overtons/order/pdetail.cgi?28966++) or This one (http://overtons.com/cgi-bin/overtons/order/pdetail.cgi?30500++) The more expensive one works great and the other works good.
