more red sticker, green issues

I have a friend who recently got a CRF250F 2004 ( four stroke) When he bought it the sales guy said it was a green sticker bike. DMV sent a red sticker. I think the DMV screwed up cause of the CR part. He thinks the salesman effed him to get rid of the bike. Anyone with a CRf 250R have a green sticker?

I have a YZ450F and mine is a red sticker bike. I was told the same thing when I bought my bike. Then I got a red sticker in the mail. I only ride in the winter so it does'nt really matter.

It is an emmisions thing (sp)! But you are dealing with the DMV here so it is all very confusing.
They are giving out green stickers to KTM 2 stokes still??? :confused:

I do know our 2000 2 stoke has a green and my 2002 4 stoke has a green. :D

If you have a "3" or a "c" in the 8th digit of the vin and your bike is a 2003 or newer you WILL get a RED sticker. The new exemption is for 2002 and older bikes,all get a green sticker as of earlier this year.
That is why I bought a CRF450X so I could ride anywhere anytime. It has, or had a smog pump to meet CA emissions.

The "Sticker" issue makes it difficult when choosing a bike and where/when to ride :sqeyes:

ARE RED STICKER ONLY.
If someone got one with a green sticker, be happy, enjoy the benefit of the DMV's F*ck up.......
The salesman lied or lacks product knowledge. Time to get a memebrship at your local track or wait till the winter.

That SUCKS!! My 350X is an '85. One of three '85 Honda ATC's I own. That 250R is Disco__Charger's, and it's VERY clean. There's a lot of them stolen it seems though. There is actually a Stolen Trike Registery on one of the ATC forums.
