I am happy to report that the "Short Bus Racing" engine is ready to hit the dyno today. That's right, take a look at our program. Notice the clean and fancy big buck engine building shop that's goin down here. How do you think the HUGE $$$$$ outboards will feel when the Bus blows past them? ;)

The paint was stripped off the scoop and oil pan to save weight. If we drink enough beer maybe we'll grind off the gel coat to save weight too! :devil:

Dave, on your radio question. Had one of our crew members not had the ultra pimp radio equipment, the next option would have been the super pimp frs/gmrs radios. Get a set with a voice activated feature, run a celphone headset in the helmet and you'd be styled.

UPDATE!!!!!!!! Team Short Bus has an official tow vehicle! Try as we might, we were unsuccessful in obtaining a "little bus" for the ride out to Parker as they are currently all in use in the "909" area. Pictures will be posted later.

Just got the bad news from Parker. Short Bus had too much horsepower, and some of it made it's way out of the side of the oil pan, 7 laps into the race. Bad luck guys!

I had a phone call from a friend, who was only aware of the boat I was supposed to be co-driving, and the boat I built the engine for. Last I know, my engine was still running fine, but haven't heard more than that yet.

The unofficial word on the street is that Maximus' "plan b" rig may have been the overall winner. I had a brief conversation with the Div2 02 boat team, but couldn't get a lot of details. From what I heard the short bus entry left the beach 4 laps down but Supdave was setting a neck snapping pace to earn back the lost time/laps. Beyond that I don't have a lot of information.
I'll start up another thread so the rumors can fly and not hijack the shortbus thread.
On a positive note, it sounded like everyone stayed dry, which is a definite plus.

I talked to him a while ago. He said his quickest lap time was 2 min 54 sec. On a 5 mi course that works out to 103+ mph average! :D

It was something like that. 2 - 54 or 56 per our score keeper. The Bus hauls ass. Ran it about 3/4 throttle. Scary to think how fast that thing would be on the wood. Now we gotta make it live.
I gotta go but I'll give a full report. For now it was super fun while it lasted and we'll be back new year.

Just got the bad news from Parker. Short Bus had too much horsepower, and some of it made it's way out of the side of the oil pan, 7 laps into the race. Bad luck guys!

That equals 85.24 mph average for Dave while on the course. Pretty good for a 9000# Spectra. ;)

Well first off i would like to thank everyone for the help we could not have been there without all of you, Dave was wheeling the bus pretty good i have to say LOL, we traced down the problem to a stuck needle and seat in the rear carburator which was the cause of the delay in the start, the motor flooded over over with fuel and hydraulic a rod on the launch ramp and decided to let itself out on the 7th lap but it was all in good fun and we will do it again, just glad the day went of with no really bad events and hope its all good next year.
