Some of us have the boat clean, tuned and ready to go...
But that's the good thing about owning a 38 year old boat; all the bugs have been worked out... :D :D

Ummm, the column shift tube wore out a few months ago and I haven't been able to find a NOS part. No use getting a junkyard part, it would fail soon enuff.
We'll be driving the Exturdsion, diesel powered A/C largesse..... :D :D

That's a good compliment coming from you. FYI, I tore it down and determined the crank just needed a .010 main turndown, the rods were OK. Amazingly enough after more than 30 years the cylinders were straight and clean. I just honed it and came out with an .006 clearance and reused the stock rods and pistons. Normal FE oiling mods were done, and new bearings and rings were installed.
Everything else was done to good marine use tolerances. I replaced the Ford/Mallory dual point ignition with a MSD billet distributor and a M6-A box and rev limiter. Too many bad memories of dual point distributors in my teen years LOL.
Although the motor was factory rated for 450 HP at 7500 RPM I have limited it to 6800 RPM (in short blasts). Strangely, the motor had a cam in it that was used in the '61-'62 406. I replaced it with a grind recommended by Clay Smith.
The stock CR of 13.6/1 was eased a bit by thicker head gaskets, and I also installed hardened valve seats in the 6090-J heads. I run a mix of 50-50 110 leaded and 93 premium.
This boat has been a real blast, the first engine I have built and tuned since around 1973.... Old but not stupid, huh? :hammer2: :D

Really enjoyed Plowmans this year with my boat.
Cookieman took me down to the Beach, which I didn't know was 21 miles down the river!
Lots of big boats this year, and lots of boats from last year,. needless to say one of the best events of the year for those who enjoy running all kinds of motors, setups and those classic boats who show up year after year.
thanks.
