I'd like to see what that scoop does on a dyno.

Kind of reminds me of that old cartoon heckle and jeckle with the crows. Not talking shit here. Scoop looks cool.

Don't recall exactly if it hurt the performance. :shift:

Did you try it with and without??? Just curious. When we did mine, I was surprised to find out that it cost over 20 lbs/ft, and a few hp. Motor definately didn't like the scoop I have. Gave me a whole new outlook on scoops. That one looks cool...like the Alien head. You need to paint two big eyeballs on the butterflys. :D

This looks like a dual carb to me. But I'm not a rocket scientist. I like even looked nice in the old piece Rogers he had. :D

I know it was run w/o any scoops early on and did have the velocity stacks (Westech's).
That engine moved so much air that it would "recycle" the used up air (i.e. no oxygen) in the room and show a loss in HP! Had to stop the engine and clear the room of exhaust before the next pull after warming up.
Fairly sure the last and best pulls were made w/ the scoop and the cyclones boat headers. Can't remember if that was the pulley though.

I do like the look of that scoop and would be interested to know how it does on a single carb (as that is what I have). Those guys at westtech know what they are doing, so I would love to hear what they have to say!!

i run one on my motor just need to make a good bracket to keep it from spinning how they come they just have an open bottom that you have to fab plates to make it an actual force fed scoop when i talked to mike about them he said he takes the butterflys out to race and puts them in at the river love the look of them though.

the Shotgun Bill scoop comes with a pair of carb adapters that dont work too well and don't take up all the space beneath the scoop, meaning that there are air gaps in between the adapters. in a single carb application there is a huge gap in front of and behind the carb adapter so i dont know how well it would work in stock form. i had an aluminum plate made that fits perfect into the bottom of the scoop and is fitted with a pair of cut down funnels air cleaner base funnels that i bought from Jegs. The funnels make a nice contoured entry way into the baseplate from the scoop. i never did any dyno testing with the scoop on my single carb motor but i did make some back to back pulls with the blown motor. The pulls were made with nothing on the carbs, then velocity stacks and then the Shotgun scoop. The motor picked up about 5 horsepower if remember correctly with the scoop on versus without it and 3hp over the velocity stacks. it wasn't substantial but prompted me to keep the scoop on the motor since it didn't seem to hurt performance.
MikeF is correct about the 'recycling air" effect in the room too.
