everbody here tow their boats at. As I was driving home from Havasu Sunday I was thinking that I drive kinda slow. I have a F350 and pull a 36 Spectre at like 68 to 70mph. It really doesn't have much to do with saving gas I just feel comfortable at that speed. I lost a complete wheel once pulling my HTM and now I'm always looking back waiting for another wheel to fall off! :D

I usually never go over 75mph when towing, it is not worth it.

I usually tow around 65MPH. The slower you tow...the cooler the hubs.
I was driving 80MPH on the way home last weekend (not towing), and I was getting passed by guys towing PWCs and wakeboard boats! :supp:

I pull between 65 and 70 on the interstates, no faster than 65 on the two lane roads.

Go for what you feel comfortable at.
We have some turnpikes with a 75 mph limit here, and my Duramax is
pretty tight at 75-80, so I don't push it loaded or un-loaded.

I only tow at 70 max., usually 65 - 70, because a tire guy told me that over 70 the tires heat up much more and become more susceptible to blow outs. Having changed a few trailer tires in my day :hammerhea: , anything that'll help prevent that, is worth it. Then there's the whole safety/momentum thing....

I used to tow between 70 & 75 on the highway but after 3 speeding tickets over a 2 1/2 year span....... I now tow between 60 and 65.

Usually 65-70 on the open HWY. Until I get to the AZ border and then it's 80  (but only for a few miles till I get to hwy95).

64.......the county sherrifs got me for 3 in one year and made a believer of me. The wifey still talks about that. They'll let me slide at 9 over though.

60-65 because I've got warned twice that 55 is the legal limit and don't need a ticket to save 30 minutes!!
As far as the wheel thing goes, I'm always watching my trailer tires, I had like 3 blow out in 1 year (wrong weight rating)

Well seeing that the speed limit is only 55MPH when towning in Ca. I usually keep it between 60-65. Arriving a few minutes early isn't worth the speeding ticket to me.

Don't forget to lube those bearing either. I sheared a rim down I-10 about 70 and drop the boat.

Havasu to Phoenix 3 hours last night, 75-80 MPH the whole way. If it is really hot outside, I usually tow around 70. Traffic seemed really light yesterday.
With this truck, I can really feel how much more stable it is than the 3/4 ton trucks. I'll only pull the weekend warrior at no more than 70 MPH.

Ya something to do with the CHP and 75 mile an hour? Yup been there done that. I played dumb though and got off with a warning. Plus I've seen way too many trucks/boats off the side of the freeway with blowouts. No need to speed.

my rig is a total of 23,000 # gross and anything over 70 mph is dangerous IMO i stay about 60-65. You never know whats going to happen in front of you or whats around the corner and its a little heavy to stop on a dime. I leave my ego at home when going boating

3 hours?...I was happy to make my place at moonridge at the dam in 3+. Too much 2-lane between PHX and LHC for me to go that fast. What route do you take?

I10 to Vicksburg, and over to Parker and up to Havasu. The road from Parker to Vicskburg (or vice versa) has some curves until Bouse or so, but then it is a fairly straight road that makes seeing oncoming traffic very easy. I was behind a trucker doing 75 on that road and then hit 78-80 on the I10. Compound that with not having to stop once, no problem.
Traffic just seemed to be flowing very well late yesterday. No back up at Dysart Rd. in Phoenix. Normally, traffic is 40 MPH around there for a few miles on the 10.
I won't travel that speed unless it feels safe. I keep a lot of distance and they have improved a good section of the I10, smooth now as well.

Ahh, we still go the back way through wickenburg - bouse then into Parker since we live north. Also 4 year old's pee breaks :rollside:

I go with the flow of traffic, which in AZ is fast. My best time to Havasu is about 2 hours and 45 minutes, then again, it's only about 180 miles from my house to the middle of town.
Towing in Cali was crazy when we went over for 4th of July though. If you run 55 you're going to get killed. I had a semi run past me at around 80 mph. I let him get out a big and then just set the cruise control. Figure they'd get him before they got me. ;)
