I am going to buy the wife a Kegerator for Mother's Day - one with two taps so it looks right :p
Before I lay out the cash for a new one, any ideas on what to look for or to stay away from? I want it to handle a 15 gal, a 7 gal or 2-5 gals.

I have an older one that came with the house we bought from Lightning. I took it into Beer King, to have them go over it and check it out. they replaced the hoses and tested it. He said it was an older model, but really well made. I liked to hear that.
I talked with the guy for a while, cuz the new ones they had in stock were pretty cheap, maybe $499....He said they were pretty poorly made, that if they broke they weren't worth fixing.
So.....ya get what you pay for. the cheap ones can't stay cool if they're outside, pay extra if you want a good one.

But add the second tap on the glycol cooled column...

I recomend the Beverage Air model. I have owned 2 of them over the years. I think they are better than the TRUE models. Just make sure you get one that has the drain built into the top to catch all of the foam your guests will spill!! :crossx:

LOL... No, I was being funny. I DID get rid of the other one though. And this can be done. I was gonna do it to mine. The dude we bought the house from had one. It was cool. And could still use the rest of the fridge. You can get the parts online. There is also a place in Anaheim that sells stuff. Superior I believe is the place. :rollside:

Went to Beverage Factory(http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer.shtml) in San Diego off Miramar Rd. Very helpful folks - if you hurry they are open till 2 today :p
Best prices I found - and the internet prices are the same as picking up in person....

Yes they do! and the hardware for the C02 split etc. We decided to wait a little to go the double tap route since it wouldn't have been any cheaper now than later...
Bar's Open!
At least till I pass out

that is bitchen.... how long will a keg that size stay fresh ?
Where does the spill catch drain to?
do you keep the o2 in the fridge with it or is that exterior?
Why did you go with beverage air? why are they so much more $
Thanks for you help....

My buddy paid like $900 for a set-up identical to that. It was a Superior though. They have a similar set-up at Sam's Club AND Best Buy for around $500 or $550. I'm thinking the quality is not as good on those though.

They say the domestic (non-pasturized) beer will stay good for about 2 months, the other stuff up to 4.
Drains to a quart sized bottle inside the refer
C02 is in next to the keg
Went with B/A cause it was the least expensive model that has convection cooling (ie forced air) in the refer AND in the tower. That cold tower saves about 3oz of beer from foaming on each pull. I also like the construction better than the plastic inside.
