Just saw an all white F29 at Windsor coming off the water. I coulnt help but notice that (Had #6 drives) there were long rubber like tubes (looked like HP hydraulic hoses from a big excavator, 3" or 4" in dia.)about 3 feet high that were attached to the back of the drives sort of like a drive shower but the angles were facing rearward, What are they for????????? Thanks, NSF

Someone will probably answer this better, but, they get air down to the props when first starting out to help them break loose. Because the drives are surface drives, the props work better aired out.

so they introduce air into the water that leads to the prop to create a little cavitation or prop slip to get it on plane?
what about once its on plane?

what about once its on plane? It uses a surface drive, meaning half of the prop is out of the water and the tubes are inneffective.

Which half? The top or bottom half?

With the big diameter and pitch props that are made for surfacing (and top end)...when getting on plane, 100% of those props are in the water, and they bog the motors big time.
Aeriation tubes help keep the motors from bogging down.

   I was talking about which half of the prop being out of the water......the top half of the prop or the bottom? It was a try at some humor. My apologies.
