There was a story on the news about some lunch boxes testing high for lead. However, it wasn't all of them, and it wasn't all dangerous levels.
There is a lead test kit you can get from home improvement stores if you want to test your kid's lunchbox.
Your mom sounds alot like my mother-in law:
1. Elvis is still alive
2. You can get a cold from being outside without a jacket whenever it is below 80 degrees
3. If you read it in the Enquirer...it must be true.

It has to do with the lunch boxes being made in other countries without stricter laws. The softsided lunch boxes, the flexing of them cracks the paint then it flakes off.

My freinds mom worked for a dentist. She would bring boxes full of lead plates home with her from mouth x-rays. We would heat them up in a kettle with a propane torch and make fishing weights.
And you probably wondered what happen to those things. :D

i say take the kids out of school and put them on home studies, and when they're bad, send the to mainevents place so he can bruise em up real bad, yeah thats it that'll teach these darn kids whos in charge, dam lead in the lunch box's, thats where it all starts then the next thing you know there selling drugs to adults.i feel so much better :D :D
