i am looking into buying this 1985 30' chris cat x racer only race i season, rigger for 4 outboards but i want to put my 1350hp turbine and a b-max into it. the hull is wery solid, old but really good shape. it is lighter than the standard 30' chris cat (3900 lb's) i can pick it up with all of the rigging and trailer for what i think is a very good price, but i wanted some input on the hull. please help.

502procharger, you might give Scott (owner) of American Offshore http://www.american-offshore.com a call. I think that he has the mold for that hull and uses it for his 30' AO cat. He is a member of this site as FastCats.

The X-Race version was lighter than the stock version for raceing. However, while most of the weight was interior, some was supportive. You may want to add some significant internal barcing. Other than that, they were amazingly fast boats at the time.

Hell, I'll fill your tank if I can go for a ride!

Guess the only consolation is that Turbine runs on cheaper fuel?? Not sure what they run on but thought I read somewhere they will burn almost anything from diesel to perfume? I'd want to know that before offering to fill the tank.
