Never thought I'd ever see a jet boat with glass-paks.
That must be how they do it in New Yawk.

no 80 is not how fast the boat goes on water... but how fast the boat gets goes on the trailer down hill with a tail wind flooring it.

Up for auction is an 18 foot Spectra Jet Boat with custom float on trailer. Jaccuzzi jet pump just rebuilt last year. Set up for a 350 chevy. Comes with all mounts and Total freshwater system. Uses antifreeze in engine. Saltwater just runs through heat exchanger. Runs 80+mph at 5800 rpms. I'm moving out of state during the winter and the toys can't all come with me. Awesome boat! Hull is great, no cracks. Nice interior. Great deal for the money. . Any info you need, let me know. Awesome boat! The engine you see in the boat will be pulled upon sale. But I will leave all mounting hardware and cooling system so all you need is a 350 chevy. I also have thru hull exhaust thats also water cooled for a 350 for $200 extra. I also have the deck lid that covers the motor that has the same graphics as the seat. And the boat does come with the float on trailor that it is shown on.
Where is the Radiator?

Mostly because our junk doesn't have OT glasspacks on it, but if it did, we would have at least tried to get some mandrel bent tubing.

They use a small heat exchanger, similar to an oil cooler, but a little larger. The engine has a closed cooling system, water pump and all. A small belt driven jabsco pump pulls raw water from the lake, river, etc. through the heat exchanger, cooling the engine coolant. In jet applications they just use the cooling water outlet from the jet to dop the same thing.
Common on boats that are used in salt or brackish water.

I saw that boat a while ago.
I asked a lot of questions from the trailer to the swimstep.

The 18's usually came with a 455 or as an option a 454.

This is the original gel coat on my Spectra 18. It has been in the family from day one (Lake Berryessa April, 2005).

Typical seating in the 70's, I have configuration 'E' and 'H'.

You shoulda seen the crowd go gaga over the "Redneck Special" a few weeks ago. Had all the goodies, a radar arch complete with speakerless speaker holes and flames painted on the sides, holes for overhead lights (aka 4x4 lights) but the lights were removed, 6" sawed off the nose to "square it up" (was too pointy), pickup truck bucket seats, grab-rails arround the bow, and many other "extras". :2purples: :2purples:

Any PM's from the seller of the Spectra 18?
If a remember correctly, 'coastguardsteve' had a 1976 Spectra 18 with and engine compartment lid. The 1975 models had an engine dog house.
I gave the seller on ebay the Spectra Marine web site link so that he can reevaluate the price of the boat by studying the classified section. I saw a green and white Spectra 18 on craigslist earlier this year in better shape without engine for $700.00, it did not last long on the listing site.

Well, that's because you don't see the beauty of this setup. He obviously uses those pipes on the tow vehicle AND the boat. Get a clue!

Hmmmmm Wonder how that'd work on my thru-transom setup. Would have to have the skiiers/tubers be REALLY carefull climbing back aboard tho. :D
Would I have to tie flags on them when trailering if they stuck out past my drive? :D :D

I agree. Not a bad looking ride. Just needs a BBC between the stringers. :)
Looks like the auction is over and not a single bid. Probably would do much better if the pictures were WITHOUT the engine(and redneck headers) and WITH the engine cover on.

You got the RARE part right. Nobody here has ever seen anything quite like it.
Now, put your OT's back on and quit stirring the pot. It was a hoot though!

Now I know where Dennis Rankin got the idea for his cruiser exhaust. His is all polished, and does go thru the transom, but it is basicly the same, manifolds pointing straight up.............MP
PS, that ebay boat wouldn't do 80 if you dropped it out of an airplane........
