Use a piece of solid aluminum stock and do not stop at the yoke. Have it cut to fit under the yoke. If you look at the picture of Jeanyus plate you can see a hook right at the yoke. That is why you want to go under the yoke to prevent this from happening.

My support use to go under the cradel, and that would be the best way to do it. But I cut the support out to get more up angle on the plate.
As far as there being a hook at the cradel, not acording to my straight edge.

You`v gotten lucky, the pic you posted looked like it had the hook going on but guess not. :220v: Most of the time that will cause a hook as you tighten the yoke down on the ride plate.

I used 2X2 angle with a 1/4 wall thickness. Had to grind a little off the sides of the yoke so it would fit. Might've been a little overkill (per usual) but I had it on the shelf at the time.

I had used some 80-20 for mine. Nice square stock
Make sure you mill your saddle to match the angle. Overtighten the bolts and you will have hook.
I run douglas fir 2 x 4's on my ride plate. I had my carpenter buddy calculate the loads and he framed it up for me real quick. Its the trick set up.
