What predictable speed should i see from a 1973 19 ft hondo with a 455 olds and a jacuzzi wj pump, all stock as far as i know? Just a rough guess would be fine, max rpm is about 4500 rpms :D

since we are on the subject of speed what kind of speed should i expect from a
1970 16' tahiti schuster with a fresh ford 430 stock and bayjet ? F.Y.I motor is rated at 350 hp and 490 lbs of torque i believe it should rev out to atleast 5200 rpm. ...

Just a rough guess would be fine, max rpm is about 4500 rpms :D I have the same set up as you do bro and I think my boat was pushing around 54mph. That is not gps but it feels like it. I have a trick for you on that jacuzzi pump to make it work a little better and it only costs around $2.00 from a hardware store. email me and I will give you my # and I will fill you in bro.
For the guy that has the name "Clown" that should be "ASSCLOWN" dont listen to him because he just flamed me for my 455. If the 455 wasnt a good engin then why did most of the manufacturers put them in the older jets? Look in a boat trader and see how many older boats still have origional 455 olds. You just have to know the limits of a 455 olds. Dont hold the throttle wide open for longer than 5 seconds and I prompse you with the right maintance your motor will go for a long time.

Just had to put my input in on the olds subject...Personnelly I'm a die-hard FORD man...Clown I run a 455olds in my jet, but you know that....To give somes stats, and I'm not bragging trust me...This Olds engine was rebuilt in 1990, after the owner got stuck on the sandbar and tried to power out of it, overheating the engine, clown you know where I'm talking about...Anyway the engine was manufactured in 1973...I guess where I'm going with this is 29 years, same motor, same boat...Oh yeah, the pump has never been rebuilt... Just my thought...

Clown does have a fast ride,
http://free.***boat.net/gallery/Hot_Boat_Happenings/Shootouts/DSC00631.JPG
He won the 8 sec class at Ottawa, ran over 100mph in the 1000', knows how to make a boat fast, does his own hull/bottom work and engine work. Got 780 hp (dyno) out of a 9:1 pump gas motor.
George is a "to the point" kind of guy.
He's right about the jacuzzi pumps and olds motors. They aren't going to go real fast but certainly can still be fun for weekend boating.
Everyone just mellow out and settle down.

Dont give up Hondo,
Here is a friends 18' Hondo with a WJ warmed over by MPD and a Bone Stock 454 with OT Headers.
In the last two years he has played with many things and has gotten it from the Low 70s to Creeping into the 80s this year. And he hasn't started building the motor yet.
The Hondo has great lines and If I could find one out here in the Midwest sitting is a shed I would grab it in a heartbeat.
Granted the Olds might not get you enough Revs you need but find yourself a Big Block Chevy and have some fun with it.
This is RatSquirts Boat and he is from the Twin Cities. The boat is one wild ass ride.

I think you have just answered your our question.
Why would anyone want a jetboat that couldn't be held to the pin for 5 seconds? I don't really want to shit on anyones stuff, but these engines are terrible. I know that with some machine work and lots of mods they can work but why bother. Parts are cheap cause guys have been stock piling them in the corners of their shops for years and want to get rid of them. Sorry Olds guys, that's just the way I feel.

They dont put the Olds Motors in boats anymore because, there are not any around anymore. It was not cost efficient for Olds to be pumping out engines just for a few boats (compared to automobiles). GM decided to stick with the 454, purely a business decision. With some work, Olds can go every bit as fast as their Big sister, they just need a thing or two more done(better oiling). As a result of less Olds being around, their are less parts, hence the higher price for items . Higher prices for parts, less people want that motor. In my humble opinion, people do not want a motor that will cost more to make it go just as fast. But the people that say screw it and build an Olds anyways, I say right on, go for shit. And I will be the first guy patting them on the back for a job well done. Clown, stop hammering people and their rides. This is supposed to be about going fast and looking good doing it, AKA fun. You and your posts just make it a little less enjoyable.

My 2 Cents, I've got a 74 Hondo 396BBC and a WJ pump runs fast enough (almost) for me and has been a damn fine ride. Old boats have more personality than the cookie cuters ya can get now. Enjoy your ride.

I have to throw my two pennies in the bucket on this one. The Olds is a fine motor and needs very few mods to make reliable. I spent 400 bucks with Mondello for a new oil pan, oil restrictors and an oil pump that gave my 455 70psi oil pressure all day long and I was able to hold the motor wide open for at least 20 seconds without so much as a hiccup. This same motor, pushed my heavy 71 Rogers Cyclone (super deep v-hull) to 72mph with a stock bottom end and only 9:1CR. Not the fastest thing on the lake, but I didn't have a ton of money sunk into it either. If you own an olds already, just stick with it an take the time to make it reliable and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
