I know it was a 12k +/- upgarde over the 525....
At least that's what I paid.. my buddy put the 525 in his boat and I went Ilmor in mine... same boats, but mine is better of course...

Before I bought my 27 Shadow last year, I checked with Ilmor on the pricing of each package. This is what they Bob Mason their sales manager provided me.
Engine/Drive/Transom - 550 $ 46,780.00
625 50,800.00
Please consult your boat builder as the list price of power normally is a point of flux when they quote a boat.
Being a year old, this might have changed but it gives a pretty good idea of what they run.
Good luck!

Right at $40k with the Teague drive. Probably a bit more now , that was a year ago...... but like stated earlier....worth every penny. Going to turn the key on mine, on the water;), in about 4 hours.......

I don't understand why these (all boat motors) are so expensive. A friend of mine has a self sposored top fuel funny car. When he grenades a motor, it's a 25k bill. 3000+ horsepower, or somewhere around there and it's half the cost. What's with 50k for 625 hp???

Try running 3000+ HP down the lake for a couple hours. Should be interesting and damn expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!

But yes, they are still overpriced.
Ask yourself how much fiberglass costs next.

I my Ilmor, but the 525 is an excellent engine too, my business partner has one in his boat, same boats (Advantage 28's) different engines. Plus I just read that IMCO is offering a drive package for it too now, so you have the choice of Teague or IMCO, not sure on the IMCO pricing though....

I agree! These motor builders are ripping ALL OF US OFF.....
Come on, I can by a chevy truck with a 496 in it for the same price merc sells their motor for.....

I think Merc's "motor" price is complete...outdrive, all the wiring, PCM etc.
