you guys ever notice how many boats east of california rock the high back bucket seats? some of these seats look like they came out of my neighbors' 1979 Chenoweth sand rail. What am i missing here? Are they more comfortable or what?

so when they run an ad on e bay they can say it breaks 100 mph and the tall seat keeps you in vs flying out

Is that what they mean by "high backs" :)
I think he bought them at Kragens, with his stereo system.

I don't claim to know the owner of this van..er...Sidewinder, but I hear he's from IL and, no this isn't comfortable, and it's getting replaced this winter along with the rest of the interior and (honest to god it's in the engine compartment too) GREEN SHAG CARPET you see in the background.

I think the idea is to have the incredibly tall seats match the height of the incredibly tall scoops some guys run.

All us REDnecks allready know how MUCH COOLER yall LeftCoast guys are than us.
My first Jet a 76 sidewinder had some high backs from the factory when I bought it the first thing I did was to cut them down they looked pretty nerdy.
Lets talk about the real problem why does every boat in Califorina have tribal flames .You guys are not form any tribe just mostely from Mexico :rollside: .

If you put a boat in a wind tunnel you would see the necessity of a very tall scoop to catch any air at all. Short scoops on a boat are just fancy air filter holders. Tribal flames?? Those graffics look NOTHING like FIRE!! Especially when they run in both directions. How about some flames that actually look like fire, ala 50s style coupes, sedans and hot rods. Now those were flames...........MP

Amen brother...............see Moneypitt knows the value of a truly bigass'd scoop. Not nearly enough drag with the lowprofile deals.
Between my doghouse sized scoop, and my throughbolted fuel tanks I could probably be running 100 mph in stead of the measley 85 I get now.

I'm with ya on that one brother. Another is the backwards flames I see all around here. I just shake my head and think "wow that thing sure looks like it hulls ass .... IN REVERSE"!
But most of that stuff is on the big "cookie cutter customs" that people buy when they re-fi. ;)

And the tin boats win with seats even taller than the scoop.
That scoop probably doesn't grab any air at all, It should be at least 4' taller.
That red boat looks really, really stuck.

Yes it was really really stuck
Whats funnier tho is my best friend emailed me the next day and said he still had fun wtf lol
Can't put that scoop any higher or you start grabbing more than air. Things like leaves, pine cones, birds standing on branches leaning over very small rivers etc etc........................lol

Haven't been doin it long enough to have too many pics of me stuck like that. Besides that stuck kinda sucked. we ran a river with a speed limit to a highway bridge. Assumed the limit stopped there(mainly cause no one in their right minds would boat past there anyway :) lol) and we only made it about 45 seconds past the bridge before we ran into that extremely wide gravel bar which was sorta in a turn and would be very tricky to skid across unless you hit it just right, which obviously I didn't lol too bad too there was a golf course a hundred yards past the stuck ;)
There are some seriously cool stuck pics on this thread:
http://www.nzjetboating.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=5454.0
but now that i've figured out how to post em finally here are a few more of that very stuck...
Left the 2x4's I had cut at home, found this pipe in the river but damn it was too heavy to be of much use! (carry electric winch since this stuck BBF's are heavy!) We eventually found some logs, pryed the boat with best friend pulling from bow eye literally 1/2" at a time!

Boat as it rested when we got out lol
http://www.nzjetboating.com/yabbse/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5454.0;attach=1063 9;image
I think this section is doable if I carried my speed in the right direction(red). Problem is behind the camera is a turn so its tricky to do. Shall try again one day hehe (maybe after a few days of good rain) We took the blue route lol

We're getting rain for like the next week it seems, this river may be high enough to have some fun ;)

i agree with the backwards flames... my fav is the paint running down the side of the boat.... backwards....... and yes flames should look like flames... but lets all be honest here. we have 70's and 80's boats. why not go original and leave the paint from then. i like the vintage look for paint but thats just my opinion..... (but if i had the cash i would paint mine too)

Ha ha ha, how the hell do you know where I am form? But yes I am guilty of having flames on my boat, but thats in the past and they weren't tribal they were just plain old REDNECK wants flames on his left coast boat. LOL, its all good, I am looking for some decent seats. What would yall recomend so not to make fun at me. I am planning to bolt them to aluminum rails bolted to the stringers. Whatcha all got?

I hear its all about the cooler space, that is the new thing that will judge the resale value of your boat. IF your bilge is insulated or you have a ski locker just call it an onboard cooler and cha-ching an extra grand on the price of your boat
