No swim platform?...Might outboards be in this boat's future?

Outboards suck. Wait, nevermind. Apparently lots of people are starting to see the light. Fuel economy, no muffler restrictions, more storage and deck space. Oh, and the performance isn't too shabby either. Outboards are cool. :D :D :D

Twin O/B's on a deck boat....how hard would it be to insure that??

See, mine's 30' with only 600 hp. Cheaper than a Cig with 1000hp to insure. Gotta love outboards. :D

Very nice looking project, I am sure the end product will be top notch with some sick ass gel. The never ending market of deck boats. That boat with a pair of these
( http://www.spectrepowerboats.com/Site/Mercury/mercury.php )would be a great way to go. four stroke and plenty of speed, longer warranty and low hp for insurance. Merc only used my boat for testing I don't have them, I went 300's.
Congrats on another boat in your line up John. Will I see you at SEMA next month?

I love how you can call that a "deckboat"... cuz it's got a wide platform up front?.... It's not much different than my 26. I tried my ass off to call mine a deckboat. Damn underwriters use manufacturer's websites for info. John will call it a deck and it'll get insured. With 300 (x2) it'll scream past 100 mph. Not bad for a "deckboat" eh?

damn, 100 mph and 13 gph... thats fast and f'ing low.... at first I though Jordy was full of it, actually I still do, but thats damn good for a 30' boat!
Not that I care about gas mileage or nutin.... ;)

I fill mine up about every month and a half, and that's going out every Saturday and Sunday. I think I've put gas in the boat 3 times this Summer and put 60+ hours on it. Oh, and the tanks are full right now. A couple weeks ago was one of the times. Oh, and the Smart Craft gauges were within a gallon on both tanks of what I used versus what it took to fill them up. Good stuff. ;)

I read that to be 13 gph per motor for a total consumption of 26 gph at 80 mph = 3 mpg. My 25' boat uses about 14 gph when cruising at 60 and would probably be close to 3 mpg at 80. I guess that's pretty good fuel economy for a 30' 100 mph boat.

Keith,
Ya but you're prop is so tall I wonder if is it even turning at 60 mph??? :supp: ;) LOL I would go out on a limb here and say that your setup is pretty damn efficient at 80 MPH!!!!
I know my old boat with the 30P got excellent mileage.
I was trying to figure mine out and I don't think its even close to 14GPH, probably more like 20 (estimated). But then again I run a 26P.
I harken back to the good ol days when our 19 & 21 foot jet boats got 40-50 gph. Good times!
BTW thanks for letting me make the run in front of you for a while on labor day before dropping the hammer and passing me like I was standing still. I felt good! :rollside: :rollside:

That was a fun cruise back to Steele Park on labor day weekend with you. I like to run for long distances at that speed
Yeah, I have worked quite a bit on trying to get my set up as fuel efficient as possible. With a 32 pitch prop I can run 60 mph at around 3,400 while the carbs are still on the primaries with the power valves still closed at 14 gph. I thought I could get better fuel economy by going with a 34 prop but even though it dropped my RPM to 3,000 at 60 MPH, it loaded the motor just enough more to reduce the vacuum enough to start to open the power valves so I get my best fuel economy with the 32 with the current tune up. At WOT it burns about 92 gph, so I try to not do that very often. :D See you tomorrow for Hookey day.
Keith

We won't know until we build one, but it looks like it will be about $85,000 with an HO, loaded.
Hope it was alright to post these up here John? I didn't think about it until after it was too late  .
I stopped by Inland Ultra and saw the pics Big John and Bob had. Looks pretty good can't wait to see the first one.
Thanks for the pics,
Chris
