Where there are boats there are Pirates. In the 1970s. "Porkey The Pirate" was one of the all time "characters" on the left coast drag racing and drag boat scene. His left leg was artificial & hollow and was equipped with a flip top lid similar to what was on a fuel tank. Porkey used to fill his leg with wine & run a hose up to his mouth where he would proceed to get totally shit faced on a regular basis. One time at OCIR, he passed out right on the starting line as they were running a funny car show...ears right by the headers...you couldn't get much closer. Another time back in the pits, he was putting on quite a show with his drunken antics when someone peed in a cup & gave it to him as a beer which he promptly downed. Without a word he reached in to his dilapidated trailer & pulled out a gun, as everyone backed up, he pointed it at the offender & pulled the trigger...out of the barrel popped one of those "bang flags" & Porkey started laughing hysterically. .
