Looking for some early railroad pics. The older the better. Anyone know of any good sites for these or if anyone has any they would like to share I'd love to see some. Im working on a project and I'd appreciate the help.
Thanks -

I will get some from my mom if you need them. My moms side of the family were all rail workers when they were building lines across the US. We even have the antique colored lanterns my great great grandpa used.

Right here in Roseville as a matter of fact. But they are open minimal hours and I cant ever seem to get by there. Its a very cool museum tho, I took Brit when she was about 10. For those that remember the old rail car explosion when they were hauling bombs for the war, they have a huge scale version of the town of Roseville and all the damage the bombs did when they exploded. Its very detailed and worth the visit.

Wow, I didn't know that and I live 2 mi. from part of the Roseville yard. I've got to go to that one. Been to the one in Old Sac though. I had a clear view of the yard blowing up back in 71'-72' (?) from the back seat of my parents 1966 Lincoln as it was rocked violently from each explosion as we sat by the road and watched......until some cop came by and made us move.

I bet that was quite a site to see. My house was right off Antelope by Raleys when I lived in Citrus Heights and back in 97 when they found the bombs that had not detonated in the original explosion.....they blew them up in the middle of the night for about a week. Blew 2 of my bedroom windows out and scared the hell out of me. Really rocked those neighborhoods. The RR paid for the damages too.

Here you go Traci, I took these when I was out in Eastern Nevada last year. They were running one of the original mining trains for a photo shoot. I grabbed some of my own. ;)

I agree... it's a nice place to visit... LOL.
My house was literally 50 feet from the tracks, my neighbor worked for the RR and would blow the whistle for his kids as he went past.
I grew up in Dolores and played around on the Goose that was in front of town hall, it's cool to see that old beast running again. :D
