Also I noticed that the way the wing is installed it would be generating downward lift (downforce), seems like it might be great to help insure that you might dig in a sponsoon (or the whole phawkin wing) and possibly die.

Yep you guys would get way more speed if you flipped those over and took off all that drag from the water. You are going to need a big prop and some wings on the side and another elevator in the back too. Maybe some alierons for roll control. Airplanes go way faster than boats.

Say whatcha want about the wing, but I don't think anybody will ever say that risky business was a slow boat.

It doesn't look like this boat has a problem with getting the nose up.

That boat had a problem with keeping the nose down.

That boat had a problem with keeping the nose down.
Think that would explain why the leading edge of the wing thing is clearly down, and the curvature is the opposite of an airplane wing? Creating downforce rather than lift.

I don't know but I think that wing made Risky Business ride way to flat with too much boat in the water

Cas,that was a joke right?
If you drove a boat riding that high and going/accelerating that fast, well you'd shit yourself, it takes BIG BALLS to keep your foot in it when its running like that.
The wing is there to slow down the "climb". I got this bit of info from the guy who designed it.

All right, so now that I've given you way too much crap about bling wings and SpongeBob :boxed: in your yard. What is wrong with the Daytona besides being a jet and having a slightly dated gel scheme? Does it only have seven round pistons? Cause, frankly it looks like it would flat haul ass and it's pretty obviously a Chitload nicer than anything I own, so I think I will just shut up now before I find somebodys foot shoved deservedly into my sarcastic ass.
I still think hydros would make decent airplanes with the right control surfaces.

Ok well the main thing wrong with it besides having a ford is that it needs a new home with a jet boater LOL. :yuk:

Its in your yard and not behind my truck on its way to Ming to be "tested" before being sold. Besides the obvious having a jet in your neighborhood with a Ford in it.
I am telling you I am not to proud to drive a Ford Powered boat, I'll have a helmet on at least. :p

I have a picture like that of a Eliminator Tunnel that Norm Grimes and I ran at
Red Bluff in 1977. The boat blew over 3 weeks later at Lake Ming.
Kinda the same story as the BIZ.It had a wing too.But on the back of
the boat like a Flatbottom.Norm was not hurt. Ron ;)

no steve. i know the pic you're talking about, which was sliced from a video. that and was basically a "lift" caused from hitting a slight roller in the lights, and not a "climb". the one you are referring to was from red bluff, 2001, and the boat ran 134.9 on that particular pass, the attitude of the boat on that pass was fine.
the pic posted here was taken at the world finals in phoenix, semi final round, 2000, against clay copeland in "head over heels". i believe this was clay's last run in this boat. this pic catches the boat at half track, in the -middle- of a climb. the boat came almost all the way out, came back in and drove out the back. the video of this pass (which i saw at about midnight that night as we drove accross the desert) almost made me hurl. none of the other passes that day were like this one. "felt fine"... suffice to say, we made some changes..
but, it was one hell of a weekend. hard to top winning a pce championship, the world finals, and the njba finals all in one weekend.

It looks like it would run better in reverse due to the fact that the motor is in backwards. Maybe that's why the wing is in the front instead of the back. :hammerhea
