It might be counter to the crowd's baser desires, but the annual SEMA show taking place next week will be a tamer place, thanks to new guidelines distributed to companies hawking their wares at the annual aftermarket extravaganza, hosted at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Nov. 1-4. A swift PR type alerted us to the registration portion of the Web site for vendors, which stipulates the thongless, bikini-less attire demanded by organizers for the 2005 event:
In the interest of maintaining a professional atmosphere, attendees must wear appropriate apparel at all times. Business or semi-business attire is suggested. Items such as flip-flops, tank tops, cut-offs, bathing suits, thongs, lingerie, excessively short skirts, transparent apparel or workout clothing, are prohibited. Logos and sayings on apparel must be in good taste. Show management reserves the right to make determinations on appropriate apparel.
As our source sagely observed, "I don't know what the tire and wheel manufacturers are going to do to draw folks into their booths."

Well I guess it will be a battle of who has the best products now... not who has the hottest chick with dental floss on. For some reason I see a drop in sales for car products this year.... :D

I ve been going since the mid 70`s, and let me tell you "back in the day" there was some of the wildest stuff going on you would ever believe. In my opinion the show in recent years has become a parody of itself. ie;trying too hard to be cool. my.02

I can still remember the days I went to SEMA, and yes the Booth Bimbos were great, but usually I could not remember who they were working for after oogling them for the day. :)

well that's why I like the PRI show better. Only hardcore race parts. No bling, no 24" wheels no seat covers or other crap. And if there is girls in the booth they know the products. I'll hit the beach, river or tit bar to see the other.

Well, I have exactly no reason to go to the wheel and tire pavilion now... Saves me a bunch of walking if you think about it.
High Performance is where it is at anyway. Not a lot of betties in there last I saw. Lots of people who know their shit though. It will probably greatly increase the traffic to the other ends of the show.
Plus, the KMC party I'm sure doesn't have such regulations at the Hard Rock...

If that's the way you feel this is where you need to be. Go once and you'll never miss it again.

I read this as guidelines for those attending the show, not for vendors.

If this were for the vendors it wouldn't be Vegas.
I can't see them making the vendors abide by this dress code either..

It's part of the "fine print" of the VENDOR agreement. I don't know if it's a new addition to the agreement or not, but is in this year's. I read the doc online yesterday. Who knows how strict they'll be.

I understand that, but isn't it to tell the vender what they expect of their people attending the show, and walking around? OR is it in the guidelines for the booth and display? The girls are considered part of the display, I do believe.
We need WhippedCaliber to set us straight..... :D

Are you telling me we will actually have to look at the wheels and motor parts this year? If that's all it's going to be this year, I'm not going.

They seemed to be congregating over in the wheels and titties, I mean tires section. Unfortunately, I didn't drag the camera along on Thursday and we spent a good portion of our time over there... :(

That hall was crowded as hell on Thursday. It definitely had the most women in it though.
