Further proof that some people have more money than brains.
No way in hell that guy will keep from losing a ton of money when he goes to sell it.
Paying over sticker price = a huge stupid charge.

Just and FYI. Ford Gt's are going for about sticker price about now, between 160 and 168, depending on options. If anyone is paying more, well a sucker is born every minute. One 2006 model does have a special paint edition so that is somewhat rare. Look at E bay and another site, Ford GT prices. Prices have dropped as 1/3 made are unsold but perhaps a few kept by dealers for their collection. About 2,600 will be made.

It's great he can blow away anything when he hits 90+....how often do you need to do that??
$190k.....I'd rather spend that on a hot boat.....no speed limits on the water (so far)! :) :rollside: :boxed:

Been doing a bit of backhoe work for a guy that has 2 GTs and an impresive collection of exotics new and old. He tells me that for the for the money the best cars he owns are the GTs and his tricked out Acura NSX. I was suprized to hear him say the NSX after a list of Italian and German cars. Says the AC sucks in all his Ferraris. I cant help but laugh.

Pretty cool car. If you like a Ford.
Like said above. Over priced! I'd pay...maybe....50,000 for that hunk.
There's alot of over priced cars out there these days. Just go look.
Being in the automotive bizz. Everything has become WAYYYYY over blown!
Go out and finance a vehicle for 10 years @ 500 bills a month. Drive on dude.
Unless he paid cash for that ride. Then rock on! :D

for all of you thinking it's over priced....
stop and think a minute
yes it has a big sticker, and yes the price will drop a bit, while the production run is finding homes for a whopping 2600 exotic cars, once they are all sold............just try to buy one for under $200k, if you consider a orginal sold for over $4mil last year at Barret Jackson, it's a wise investment

Car & Driver track tested it against a Porsche and Ferrari and the GT smoked them both all around, and the GT was the cheapest one.

Not exactly. The GT was not the cheapest one. It was the fastest in most every category. But it didn't win the shootout. Great car for a Ford!
For $200,000 I'd take a Z06 and a Viper and have enough for an amazing boat (down payment).

Acura will have the next generation NSX out late next year.
It will have a V-8 from what I understand. This is gettting interesting
A GT with 2,600 miles sold for 136K. So no, it is not an investment.

FIX OR REPAIR DAILY is recalling its $140,000 Ford GT supercar to repair a defect that could cause loss of control.
Nearly 450 vehicles - all Ford GTs built to date - are affected by a suspension component problem that originated with a supplier, said spokeswoman Kristen Kinley. The part can crack because of a casting error.
"If it cracks, it could cause the wheel to become unstable," said Kinley, who would not identify the supplier. "And if the wheel becomes unstable at high speed, that's a safety issue."
The recall could tarnish the kudos Ford received for the fast-track engineering process it used to develop the 550-horsepower two-seater. Ford rushed the GT into production to mark the automaker's centennial in 2003.
"Maybe they weren't quite as thorough as they needed to be," said Bill Visnic, senior technical editor of the Southfield-based trade publication, Ward's AutoWorld. "If I were somebody who bought a GT and was exercising it a bit as it was designed to do, I'd be certainly a little annoyed. This wasn't the dome light switch that didn't work."
The recall was voluntary, Kinley said. There were no complaints or accidents related to the defect, which was discovered during an inspection .
Of the 448 vehicles affected by the recall, 111 are in the hands of private owners. Ford has contacted the owners and warned them not to drive the car until the automaker determines how to fix the problem, Kinley said. Ford will pick up vehicles in private hands.

with all the out sourcing going on  ? . Toyota had to recall 100.000's of their trucks for steering/suspension problem .They don't seem to get bashing like ford gets from the cheby guys :hammer2: . I had all makes of manufacturers and only my vette had a serious problem while flying on the road .The outer ring of the harmonic balancer slipped off of this 3 yr old car :2purples: :2purples: :2purples:
Ps; as the vette evolved into a great car [still old school pushrod engine to keep the low hood line ] , so did mustangs and the afformentioned Ford GT

I find it funny that the Craprolet guy's are bashing the vew GT's when Cheby still cant touch an old GT or a 427 side-oiler Cobra.Sure the sticker price is more than a Z-06 but remember you get what you pay for.Ford set out to kick everybody's ass in the 60's with the Cobra's and the GT's and now their doing it again.

Oh by the wa,as far as recalls,I don't think there is an auto manufacturer that hasn't had recalls at some time or another.I seem to remember when Chevy had a hell of a time with something so simple as making paint stick. And they only gave their customers a limmited time to have them redone because they couldn't afford to repaint every car and truck that had the problems. So if yours started to peel after the limmited time you were S O L great customer sevice ehh?

MagicMtnDan
11-03-2005, 06:15 PM
Yeah, everybody has recalls.
But not everybody making $100,000+ cars has recalls especially not significant issues.
Kudos to Ford for making the GT.
If Chevy or GM wanted to make a car like that they could.
Speaking of which, Chevy is talking seriously about making the Blue Devil.
The word I have is: The Blue Devil (Corvette-based) will be built and will have 650 HP. It will be shown at the Detroit Auto Show this Jan. It looks like a 2008 model. (Rumored price: $100,000)
Look out Ford GT!

Last week I was over at the Ford house where I buy my fleet vehicles. They had a black GT on the floor with a sold sign in the window, salesman sez they got $175K for it on eBay.
They also had a red one in the make ready shop, supposed to have been sold right at $200K......
Lotsa money for a Ford. I don't have much experience in cars that cost six figures (duh! :D ) but the nicest ride I have had a chance to make sing was a Ferrari 575 Maranello, 515 HP V-12 in a really nice package. They are around $220-250K, and make a ZO6 look like a minivan by comparison.
So yeah, I'd love to own a supercar, but my Excursion is prolly as close as I'll ever get...... :hammerhea :D :D
