I am looking for a better way to mout my alternator in my boat. Right now I have a very getto braket that mounts to where the water pump would be if it was a vdrive. ( old nicson hard ware) I have heard that you can mount it to the jet pump housing and run a pully off of the drive shaft. Has any one ever done this??? An ideas you have would be great. I so can't wait to light this thing up....probly won't have seats til the spring but I will be out there on a milk crate. :D

There must be some pics somewhere from 04 CBBB that show Steelcomps set-up but he may have some of his own.

Ty thats what I am looking for. Did you machine the pully to fit over the drive shaft or did you have the drive shaft made?

My shaft bolted to the yoke going to the pump. The pulley is a GM smog pump pulley. Had a machinist fit the pulley to the yoke. Made a bracket to mount the alt to the pump base. Then a small bracket on the bearing cap for the tensioner rod.

Bolt That Sucker To The Side Of Your Boat, And Throw A Big Padle Wheel On It.... Like A Steam Boat.... Wouldnt Rob Horse Power From The Engine... Thats What Cs19 Is Gonna Do, Because He's Gonna Need All The Power He Can Get Next Year. In Fact, Thats Just One Of The Many Great Speed Secrets He Is Hiding... He's Also Gonna Turn His Headers Around, To Force Cool The Block With Cool Air Through The Heads, Thus Eliminating The Need For Water From The Jet... Which Means More Water Preasure Out The Nozzle (instant Speed)..... And Many More Changes On The Way.. Reclining Seats For Airo Dinamics... He Is Also Working With Lance Armstrong On A Super Fast Lycra Driving Suit, But Thats Just To Atract The Ass Jockies He Likes So Much...

I may be ignorant but,...what if you lose a belt, do you have to pull the driveline in order to reinstall a new one??

That's what it looks like ... but that belt is the same type used for dry sumps if I'm not mistaken ... rarely break

even if its a friggin autozone cheapy, it should not break or get spit off, those things go atleast 30k. We dont put 30k on our boats in a lifetime. :D
Now if your a hack and your alignments off like HBjets was all season, thats another story.
I need to get some pics up of the mini 1 wire alt. with cogbelt drive Ive got, its kinda cool and has been great for 2 seasons now.

Man you be kickin ol' hb in the junk all night. almost runnin' his boat onto the beach, crappy alternator alignment. next thing you know you'll tell everyone that he when he flips his boat over beer cans fall out of it. oh wait that was you. nevermind. :D

Hb can handle it..
About the beer cans, yes that did happen when we filpped it over, I quadruple checked for cans too. ..LOL
At the last race on Sunday Im running down the track and one of those 16 ounce plastic beer bottles that i love so much appeared out of no where in the cockpit and was like spinning and twirling around inside the boat all the way from like 1/2 track till the lights. It was like when you leave some stuff in the back of your truck and your driving down the road and you see it kinda dancing around in the back, it was doing that inside the boat.Weird, i have no idea where it came from, but i was cracking up going through the lights.

You need a Rex Marine catalogue. They have a direct drive setup that bolts directtly to your balancer hub. No belt at all!!!! Part #457475 for a polished one. They have anodized colors as well. Front engine cover might need to be modified.

I have the front mount and it works great. The only prob is I don't run a back seat and if you do there could be a clearance issue. Steelcomps setup is nice. What cool is it keeps the Alt up out of the bottom where if your ride took on a little water it might damage the alt. Cs19 is right a one wire mini with a cog is nice with a nice billet low mount bracket.

Yes, that would be the case, except that like Busby said, ...not likely to break. I'll include an extra belt, also.
I'll sell the whole deal for $250.00.
