I am about to embark on this mission and am seeking opinions from the masses here on the following and anything else that may be offered up:
1. Total expense for Single Engine VFR rating
2. Total additional expense for Twin Engine VFR Rating
3. Total additional expense for IFR Rating
I am sure the dollar amounts vary with what aircraft is used in each scenario, fuel prices and the rates instructors charge, but any and all input would be appreciated.
What types of aircraft should I avoid and which would be preferable ?
Anyone have experience with Channel Islands Aviation or any ot the schools out of Van Nuys airport ?

I'm only rotorcraft rated...... :D
When I get a free weekend, I think i'll get my fixed wing rating...

Seriously......Getting my pilots license was one of the most rewarding things I have ever done......
Good luck.....

No....Never flown to Havi, other than commercial airline.....
I'm rotorcraft rated and my two partners are fixed wing rated.....
Not very practical / cost effective to fly a helicopter to Havi from SoCal....
Still here in Havi.....Just getting going.......Heading for Starbucks in a few minutes....
One of my good friends is multi engine & IFR rated......I'll hook you up with him for a good chat!!!
We'll talk business & flying next week.....
Later,
CJG

You had better read these threads before sleek jet rips you a new one :D

Lots of good info in both. I'm flying to palmdale today for my last required cross country solo. I start prepping for my check ride after that. :D:D:D

152 is probably the cheapest... unless you're a real man and get trained in a tail dragger. :supp:
