We have officially shifted to the new site layout. It will take a couple of hours for the ISP's to release their cached ip address's and until that happens the forums are going to look a bit odd. Some people will be able to see them fine and others will not see any of the nav buttons.
It is a Sunday night, get some sleep and check back in the morning.

Well we could all just use the buttons on our monitors to adjust our displays so that the forum part is centered and that sidebar is off screen. :idea:

Some of the posts end up being too wide and require using the slider to view the text off the screen to the right.
Please consider putting the links in the sidebar at the top and bottom like it used to be - it's wasting real estate and isn't as necessary as maximizing the usable space.

Site looks good so far but with all of the stirring going on in here (especially as the winter months set in) the use of red in the graphics may not be a good choice. :cool:
Some of these guys need some of the more soothing colors to get them through the winter :p

I understand the upcoming billboard ads about to occupy those vacant spots, but I haven't seen any message boards display them on forum pages.

Sidebar is business. None of us even know what the rest of the site looks like. I have mine forwarding straight to the forums on a favorites tab... This actually might get me surfing around the site a little more, which is I am sure what they want.
Get a bigger screen... ;)
The Corvette Z06 forum I am on does the same thing, and so does the Ducati forum. I am used to it, and it helps the site.

I was logged into the forums and ACTUALLY USED THE SIDEBAR to surf over to the Hot Boat Store. Browsed the schtuff for sale over there and then surfed back to the Forums using the Forums link in the sidebar. When I got back to the Forums, I had been somehow automatically logged out.

The siedbar sucks :yuk: , needs to be about 1/3 the size it is, and then put it on the right side of the screen, or the top/bottom, so it's there if WE want to use it. It's okay on the furm pages, but needs to disappear on the threads.
The new format is killing me on Dial-up :frown: . I usally spend about an hour on-line, but now it's taking about 2-3 minutes to cycle between screens. Thats time I can't get back, Time I could spend on another site :devil: .
I don't mind change, but it needs to be in the users intrest or they will go elsewhere :cry: .

Dude, you can fix that with a setting chage. You need to bump your resolution up unless you really, really need glasses or something.
That is like the Sony "My First Computer" setup. My Mom used to do the same thing... Change your monitor settings to the highest your card/monitor will allow. I think all three of mine are at 1028x964.

It feels unbalanced with it on the left and the board is crunched to the right.

kind of a nice change but I have to agree, the sidebar is a little too big as I have to scroll side to side to read the posts.
How about having the sidebar on the forum main page and not on each individual page? I don't think we need to see it when we're replying to a thread :D

It would flow alot better with the tool bars across the top, from left to right. Instead of down the left side. The problem is its nice when you are looking at the top of a thread, but when you scroll down the left side is just dead space.

OK, here is what I am working on as per user recommendations:
1. Side bar is not going away, but I will make a more compact version of it.
2. Some of the Orange is going away and will be replaced with a more neutral color.
3. Site loading times are improving as I tweak things around.

Yeah, the sidebar needs to go away when you are viewing messages. It takes up way too much screen real estate at 800x600 or 1024x768 and my old tired eyes won't let me run higher resolutions than that.

Classifieds have been re-entered into the database. We switched classifieds software (change sucks sometimes), and had to build a script to transfer everything over. Didn't even notice the price thing until today. Fixed now, price now appears on a separate line with a dollar sign so you know what it is.
Still working and looking for issues.....

Side bar is gone in the sub pages of the forums. It will stay at the top level. As far as pages loading slowly, we are working on that right now.

Sorry about the outages. I am trying to make the upgrades happen after 9:30pm or later. We are upgrading some of the software on the server to try and speed things up around here.

Upgraded to PHP V 5 (something) and switched from a CGI based system to a ISAPI. We will see in the morning when it gets busy again. Hopefully it will not be this again.
