Hey I need some help!!!!
I have 1979 18' Sanger Superjet with a blown BBC, VERY CLEAN and needless to say a lot of cash invested in her. I am looking for boat insurance (Declared Value) I am having trouble because of the excessive HP and the over the transom exhaust headers. I live in San Jose, California. Does anyone know of a company will issue a policy for me???
Thanks

GOOD LUCK. I CHECKED PRETTY MUCH EVERYWHERE LAST YEAR AND FOUND NOBODY THAT WOULD INSURE ME. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WAS THE OTT HEADERS. I EVEN TRIED FINDING SOMEONE TO INSURE ME JUST FOR THEFT AND CAME UP WITH NOTHING. IF YOU DO FIND SOMEONE PLEASE POST IT.

Open motor + high HP + OT headers + Old age = bad news
Took me awhile even with logs... Try Hayden Insurance 949-723-1170

Try Progressive. DON"T even tell them something stupid like "I have 1,000 horsepower and use it all the time!!" when they ask. Try to be conservative, like "it has 496 hp". That may work for you. Good luck. RR

How about a "stock 350hp 454" w/ OTH?

AAA has changed their requirements. As long as you are somewhere under 450hp and the boat does not go over 64mph, they will insure for declared value, regardless of exhaust, according to my agent. Good luck.
