Info is right. Stay away from the TRW's for this application. JE's and if you want total seal type ring try the Childs & Albert. For rods we like the Manley H-Beam, Eagle's aren't bad either depending on HP. I dont know how much NOS you are using, but if a lot you might consider Manley Pro I beam or Oliver.

Ross also makes a very nice piston. They can do just about anything you want. The "off the shelf" stuff is not alot as far as pistons go... unless you get nuts like I did and had them do way to much to them then its going to hurt. When I took them to the shop to have every thing blanaced the shop was amazed that every thing was with in .3 grams.

No idea why you would fool with a blower AND nitrous. Buy a some spare pistons while you are at it.

that kinda answers alot right there fiat48. do you really need nos with a blower. i check the sites out for pistons but not sure what ones to get. i want to go 60 over but the part numbers do not say what ones to get. any part numbers that you would use? thanks

Pat,,,, try calling JE. They have great techs, and will set you up with a "blower" piston based on what you want to do. If you are going to run NOS with the blower, you might want more spares than just a few pistons? Spare block, heads, blower, etc????

I don't believe you will really want nitrous and the blower in that flat. Blower will do just fine and probably be all you want. Basically all you need is a good flat top piston. TRW is strong enough but just heavy. But I have seen some real shody looking wrist pins they have been coming with. And they are not cheap like they used to be. One of the nicest deals for this app was the Arias piston package. They came with taper wall wrist pins and pin buttons or locks...your choice. And they were a bargain. The bad was they only had them in a few sizes. Doug Herbert used to have them but I don't see them anymore. Competiton products may have them but website is messed up right now.
Srp/JE pistons can be found here:

If you have to buy rods anyway...you might as well do a .250 long rod and do the 1.395 compression height piston. With a standard length rod you'll use a 1.645 compression height. You'll want a piston like 139478 for a standard length rod or a 142973 for a .250 long rod. Consider upgrading to a 180 gram taper wall pin...especially if you might consider alcohol in the future.
You'll want file to fit rings...be it Total seal, C&A's or Speed pro's.
Rods I would prefer would be the Lunati Pro mods .250 long. Probably the Eagle's would work with the bolt upgrade L19. Shop around as prices vary quite wide. Pm me with your final choice of whatever you do and we'll double check numbers before you order. And plan on internal balancing the thing. It helps the life.

This may be the same performance machine that was was owned by George Vierra. Do you know if it is?
And please....get some 2nd opinions on those rods before you put them in. I know nothing about them. And the salesman bs about Lunati...that started years back when Holley bought them out. As of last year...the same guys who worked for Lunati were doing the cranks, etc and they were fine quality.

Performance Machine in Manteca is owned by Walt Ott, also the owner of the Perfomance Plus TFH team. Walt's shop does good work.
Pat, one thing I've heard about those Scat rods if that they need checked for sizing. You did go with the +.250" length rods, right?
