I have one also .I make the ice then bag and put the ice in my coffin type freezer and the beer stays cold all day long in July. Nice not having to go to the store every day for ice.

Its not to late. Mine is installed in my garage next to my water softner and I drilled a hole to the outside for the drain.

I use to have a good source for used ice makers and have sold a few to HB peeps. When ice sells for $1.25 of 7 lbs at Wal Mart, well everyone is learning. I currently have a 200 LB machine. So everyone realizes that NO ice machine will produce the pound per day rating in LHC during the summer. Figure -25% at best.
Inlet water temp and outside air temp are to blame. I get about 125 pounds per day on a 200 pound unit. And not not keep them in the house or the house A/C will be batteling the hot outlet temp of the unit. The garage is fine, crack the door as they need plenty of fresh air.

I'll take it unless you need some sort of drain ... :)

You only need a drain if it's going to be installed somewhere where overflowing water would be a problem. In case of malfunction or for cleaning.
Okay, so for the garage in Havasu, I am thinking who the heck cares about a little water in the garage ??!!??

The way I do it, if you make it and put the ice in a freezer theres hardly any water to drain out at all.

Yes you can put a plug in the bottom, but it was so convenant for me to run a plastic drain line to the outside so on Sunday when I leave its drained when I come back the next trip.

The drain is for the Ice that melts on the bottom of the ice maker. it is not a refrigerated unit and it just cycles the ice...... the bottom stuff melts off slowly and is refreshed with new on the top. The only refergeration is when the unit is freezing ice and then the cold of the ice.....
It is constantly melting and that is why you need to have the drain open.
I have this macine in my laundry room and run the drain to it on the floor in there.
depending on the heat in the garage or where you have it installed is going to determan how fast the ice melts......

Wildbillg is right the ice at the bottom is always melting. If i get to Havasu by 7:00 and start the machine I will have enough ice for the next day. The problem is the ice is what I call a wet ice and it melts faster . Thats why we bought the freezer and make up 2-3 trips worth and the ice is very frozen. That way I don't waste any ice that I don't use that weekend.
