is a 9X19 illegal in California? I thought I heard a law of 7 rounds max.
What do they consider a machine gun? Anything with rapid fire?

The 9x19 is the size of the round 9mmX19mm. The law in Ca regarding magazine capacity is 10 rnds max unless you are LE. A machine gun is generally considered any firearm cabable of fireing multiple rounds with a single pull of the trigger.

I believe 9x19 is standard 9mm
A machine gun is a gun capable of firing more than one round per each pull of trigger wheter it be 2 or 1000 doesnt matter as long as it shoots more than one.

Thanks that what i thought. I sold a Baretta years ago when we were having our kids and I thought it was 16 rounds, 1 in chamber 15 in mag, too bad it was nice as far as a gun goes.

Thought I read somewhere recently that high capacity magazines were "grandfathered" in before more stringent laws enacted.
true?

PC 12020(b)(19-29) Continued possession of large-capacity magazines (able to accept more than 10 rounds) that you owned in California before January 1, 2000, is not prohibited. However, as of January 1, 2000, it is illegal to buy, manufacture, import, keep for sale, expose for sale, give or lend any large-capacity magazine in California except by law enforcement agencies, California peace officers, or licensed dealers.

So if I relocate to Cali from out of state because of a job change or whatever, is that considered importing?
