I have a 135 mercury outboard. The problem I am having is when it comes up to temp it drops the odd # cylinders. Upon start up it runs fine then at about 150 it just drops 1-3-5 let it sit for a while and it runs fine until it reaches temp again. I have checked coils and they are fine i am at a loss please help.

Thanks for the help. On the switch box idea i cannot swap them around one is inner and the other is outer. Now as far as swapping coils around that is no problem but the coils are good. I was wondering if the stator is bad again or maybe some type of rectifier?? I just replaced the water pump hopeing this might be a problem running warm but did not change anything other than the fact it only started on 3 cylinders. I live in texas clear lake area and have not been able to find a shop that gives a shit. :crossx: Any ideas on what else i might try
Thanks Mike

The switch boxs are exactly the same. They just mark them that way in the manual so you will knoiw where the coils go. Swap them around like we told you. :p

YES, It Should be the switch boxes, a bad coil would only screw up 1ea cylinder and a trigger would do 2ea.

Merc usally use the inside switch box as 1,3,5. Unless someone has wired them backwards. Just make sure when you switch the boxes the ignition is off.
Here is what they look like, you'll see they are identical, Gary.
