Looking for a 1985 - 1989 Astro or GMC Safarri van. Preferably a cargo work van. The least number of windows the better. Not running is OK just need a decent van body. PM please if you have one or know of one.

A guy I work with has one for sale pretty cheap ($400 I think), It's his daily driver, but I'm thinking the body might be kinda beat, and it's in way over here in IL. I'll look closer tommorow.

Blown mini van but not alky.
I have an extra 522 lying around that is begging to be installed right in the middle of a mini van.

Old man I work with was driving one back & forth to work for awhile, but I believe the tranny went south. It was like you describe, a work/cargo van. If I remember correctly it didn't have any interior whatsoever. Just 2 buckets up front, he carried all kind of shit in that van. I can check into it, see if he's willing to get rid of it(if he still has it) if you like. He lives outside Victoria, Tx whicj\h is around 125 miles south of Houston...

Thanks man. Thats a long way to drive and tow one back.

I'll go ahead and ask him about it. I'd feel bad if you decided you wanted it & it was already gone or something. I can find out in a matter of minutes. Gimme a few, I'll ask him..... BRB.

:D 'Bout what I figured.... He still has it, but is looking for a transmission to get it rolling again, as the MPG in the truck he's driving now is killing him. Glad I asked. Sorry....

back in the late 60's a guy down here in the badlands had a chevy van with an injected bbc on alky in the middle of it----campaigned it as a wheelstander, called the "paddy wagon"----pretty neat to see a full sized van going thru the traps on the rear bumper at 110 mph----sure miss those times when racing was headsup and not shoe polish like today!!!

I had a 88 astro and I put a 350 chevy in it. All accesories from the 4.3 bolted up to the front of the 350. The throttle body is the same as the 4.3 also. Fuel injected, cruise, air It worked just the way GM should have sold it. Put 100k on that combo and surprised alot of cars at the stop lights. sleeper grocery getter.
