Does anyone who has this experience the following:
when i go from a non hi-def channel to a hi-def channel, the screen goes green when it changes resolution.
i have a friend with hi-def cable and this does not happen to him. Should this be happening to me?

No, but we need more info, like the type of receiver you are using, does the green screen go away after a bit or does it stay green? What resolution do you have the receiver set too, 720p 1080i? Your TV may only handle one of those.

i have to look when i get home but I think i have my resolution set on auto. my TV should handle it. it's a brand new 46" Samsung DLP (HL-R4667W (http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/DLPTV/HLR4667WAXXAA.asp)) . THe reciever is the Directv reciever i bought at Circuit City.

When you get home also check to see what type of connection you are using (component, DVI, HDVI) only certain connections will work with HD.

I have the HDMI cable running from the reciever to the tv.

So does this happen on all HD channels, and do they ever come in at all? Also, try going into the receivers setup and tell it to output at 720p, see if that helps.

There is a recent technical bulliten that reads cable/sat boxes will not output HDMI video through a receiver to a display unless the firmware has been updated.....
Also, there is a Samsung dlp that is not compatible with Denon or Pioneer receivers when using HDMI connetion...
Are you using HDMI from your cable/sat box through your a/v receiver to your tv?

Maybe the wife just has the Kermit the Frog channel pre-programed for the kids. It's time you took control of the TV back. It's your manly right!!!

It is most likely the receiver, not the TV.
This is the second reciever that i have been thru.. POS.... :yuk:

Nope. HDMI goes straight from Reciever to TV.

And it does the same thing when you use a component cable?

How many receivers pass HDMI? I've seen one, that $6000 Denon. There's a few Yamahas as well...
The real question is which receivers upconvert and which transcode the signal... :D

I have a DirecTV HD receiver going through a Denon receiver to a Pioneer 50" Plasma using all HDMI cables. No problems here.
