Hello, I am in need of a steering setup for my old fishing boat and thought perhaps someone here might have something I might be able to buy cheap. What I have is a 16 foot center console boat with a 1968 55hp johnson, it currently has a frozen cable and the rotary helm is very sloppy also the bracket that holds the cable end at the transom is broken so basically I need it all, does anyone have some serviceable part they want to get rid of ??? Thank you.

you should be able to pick up a complete helm and cable from west marine for about 175.

Yup you are right there and Rex Marine has the whole deal for 145 or so but I was hoping to get lucky and get something for considerably less for the old beater here.

IMO, by the time you pay for shipping for something that you really have no idea what condition it is in (used or off ebay), you could probably spend a few more $$ and get a new one.
