Tach Question

My tach last weekend started wandering and eventually stopped registering while we were boating. I looked all over and could not find any loose wiring, blown fuses, etc, so I purchased a new tach - figured it simply died.
Well, that angle didn't do anything either, the new tach is still not registering and all wiring / connections look sound, any thoughts to this weird issue.

Did you try hooking the tach directly to the source ,eliminating the wiring going to your dash?

No, I didn't try that. I didn't know if someone else had experienced this weird event in the past. However, I did test the tach wire for juice and it was strong indicating current was reaching the tach (new and old), for whatever that may be worth.

also do a continunity test on the tach leed it might be broken or spliced i found wires like that under my dash!

This may sound stupid but check your ground connections.
