Well, the wife wants to get away for a few days, and not at the river. She is hoping for some relaxation. Like massages, facials, pedicures, etc. With the heat, we definately need a place with a real nice pool area, and something young kid friendly. Maybe with kids activities that we could place them in for a few hours a day.
I might even try to get a round of golf in.
We are looking to go in June or July. I know, it will be hot. Since we are a seasoned river family, we can cope with it as long as there is a pool to cool off in.
Any ideas on a nice, but affordable place to stay? :)
Any ***boater discounts out there?
Thanks,
J

i just recently stayed at the "springs of palm springs" a very nice place massages, 24hr pool and spa, mudbaths all the good stuff. it was $197 a night. check it out. just stay away from room 13 our power kept going out, but we ended up getting the visit for free because of it. there are lots of nice places there.

You can't really lose with the Marriot Desert Springs in Palm Desert. Great place and kid friendly.
The Rancho Las Palmas Marriot in Rancho Mirage is also great. They have a little water slide park right in the complex and "The River" (an outdoor mall type thing) complete with movie theaters and good restaurants including, PF Changs, Flemmings, Yard House ,Cheese Cake Factory etc.
Check hotels in Indian Wells too. Great golf courses out there.
Palm Springs has the Spa Resort and Casino one block off the main street downtown. Also a Hyatt downtown. The only bummer with PS is you're on one end of the valley. Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage is more centralized to golf, restaurants, bars etc.
If you want golf, you're no more than a good tee shot away from any good hotel.
Good luck and have fun.

If you want to stay in Palm Springs rather than Palm Desert, I would recomend the Wyndham, they hve a great pool, nice rooms and probably alot less than the mega resorts, take a look online.

Roc knows the area, I agree with the Desert Springs and the Rancho Los Palmas Marriott, both very nice. The Hyatt Grand Champions (I think in Indian Wells) is very nice also. The Palm Desert area has much more to do then Palm Springs, and it's not as gay (I've heard most the clubs in Palm Springs now are either gay or lesbian clubs). The wife will love shopping on El Paseo (where Roc's Firehouse is).
Have fun, I love it out there in the summer, not as busy and who cares if it's 110 degrees when you're in the pool or wearing shorts?

yes i noticed there are alot of gays in palm springs. i even got flipped off by two of them jogging across the street in running traffic. guess they think they own the place now

Yep. The wife and i were there a year ago and it was flaaaaaaaming! It was not until we got there that we learned that it's a big gay hotspot.

I live in LA Quinta and I have no need to ever set foot in PS.
Go to Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert. Indian Wells or LA Quinta.
I give no money to PS and haven't in the ten years I have lived in La Quiinta.
