I was going thru the paper and found a 1974 Olds 455 that was rebuilt and never installed..it has been sitting on an engins stand covered for the last 3 years...ill try to attach some pics...the price i would be paying is $600 for the complete motor minus carb...which i dont need...any input?

Buy it, pull it apart, make the modifications as outlined in this months hot boat and run it. Probally a cast piston motor so don't beat on it too hard.

this is what the guy emailed me about the motor....Hi Mario,
Here are some pictures of the motor. The carb is NOT for sale. Just sitting there to keep dust out of the motor. All mounting hardware, bell housing, flywheel, coupler are included. Has Excel HEI distributor, Dooley 10 qt. pan, oil filter extender. The cam is an Olds W30 at .519 lift. Does not have the carb, alternator, water and oil sending units. Everything else complete. Has been sitting on the stand now for 3 years. The heads are brand new. Had them completely rebuilt 1 year before I swapped out the motor. Cost me $965.00 at the time. This is a 1974 Olds 455 CID Hardin Marine boat motor.
still dont know how to post the pics...

10 qt pan cost me $400.00 alone!!
i'd ask the guy if it has oil restricters in it.
either way buy it!!
p.s. oil restricters a must!!

My machine shop lists the core price on a 455 block at $400.00. If a block is worth that much you got plenty of extra for your money.

If you aren't going to buy that let me know, my friend is looking to replace his 455 olds which is only running on 5 cylinders (80% leakdown in 3 of them) Anyone else know of some good deals on a 455 please let me know. Thanks. PM me.

being that the summer is just a round the corner and not alot of money to build a BBC, he just wants to get the boat in the water this summer, and this spend the winter building something for next year.

I don't think it will float.
