I have a friend with a 2003 Chevy pickup with the 8100 Vortec motor in it. He's kind of a do-it-yourself'er guy, and wants to build some decent power. He's already got the injection stuff figured out, but wants to buy a decent long block setup.
From what we have found, it seems this motor runs hypereutectic pistons at 8.1:1. He's looking for something forged at like 9:1. Would like to have some decent heads and a mild cam as well.
Any suggestions on who might be able to fill this void? He wants to buy this longblock before tearing into his stock motor, so the vendor would have to be able to supply the parts with no core.
