OK, so I thought I'd start a new clean thread to get ready for this weekends bash Sunday at Alder Lake....looking like Sunday's weather forcast is clearing up and may be a decent day!!!!
There is also a group meeting for breakfast right in Spanaway?
Ty and I plan to come down to meet some of you at the lake.
Looking forward to it!

Yes, there is a group meeting at the Spanaway Eagles hall at 9:00 am for the open breakfast. Eagles are at 224th and Pacific (Hwy 7), right across from the Fred Meyer shopping center. Open invite to any of the NW contingent that want to meet up.

I'm in as well. And it looks as though Tony will make it too. He got his pump back from Tony (Skagen) yesterday. We're planning on a late night thrash Friday, and a clean up day Saturday. The forcast looked better today, sunny AM, sprinkles late Sunday night.

My forecast is looking decent...the McBride Radar shows no rain, just cloudy and 67 degrees....
Sounds like it will be a decent turnout...look for us because we'll be the ones waving at you from the shore!

Hope you all have an awesome get together!!! I'm trying to find a local lake to go to, but they all have 35 mph speed limits! Oh well, I guess that will make me take it easy on the new engine. :p
Hope to hear all about it tonight! All the pics you can muster mister! :boxed:

We ended up going to Lake Stevens. What a pit! Every time I go, I swear I'll never go again. Well, I'll never go again! :p
In between bumps I managed to bounce it off 4800 one or twice. So it has at least as much power as the 403 with no tuning. I think my timing is way slow (like in the 20s) and the carb needs to be tweaked some more. Hard to do that stuff on the lake, you might fall out. :rollside:

It's a little hard to believe he can stand in it without it capsizing. I missed him trying to get behind the wheel. I think thats what hurt his back last week, not the rough water on Tapps. One of those removable streering wheels the CART guys have would help out. :D

Or sure, it's easy to pick on the big tall fat guy !!!! :p Harley5229 I'm calling in the BIG guns, paging Mr. n Mrs. Bud Light. I can now see why you live on the bad side of the river  .
Actually that's funny shit there, I do look pretty big standing in the boat. What can I say I'm 6'6" and enjoy drinking beer ! It is a bit of a challenge to get into the seat, but it can be done. I also had to move the go pedal as FAR forward as possible, and me knee STILL rubs the bottom of the helm !!!!!!!!!! What's really funny is watching anyone else try to drive it. You pretty much have to lay on your back in the drivers seat to reach the pedal.
Glad you guys are having a laugh or 100 at my expense. At least no one else from ***boat has chimed in.

Well, she ran ok most of the day. I tried tuning the carb a bit and it kept getting worse. The secondaries didn't want to stay open. I fought it a bit too long and think I stuck a valve. :yuk: I'll have to rip into it and see how bad I hurt it. :skull:

The old Q-jet's air valves didn't want to stay open, or sometimes not open at all. My Torker intake's runners are longest to #1 and #8, guess which ones had the problem. :skull:
I got the heads off tonight, gonna take 'em to work and see how bad they are. No dents in the pistons (about the only good news).

Good Ol Q-jet's. I personally am a fan of them, but
ONLY after spending good money to have them gone through. Got one on my `68 Bird, spent good money to have it rebuilt, works like a freakin champ !!!! They really are a great carb, once their dialed in.

I pulled the top off it today, didn't see anything obviously wrong in there. I rebuilt it back in '03. I'll either go get that 800 from John, or possibly switch brands. :crossx:

I just read your e-mail, have you asked the 'Gear Head' forum about your flexplate troube ? That sure seems odd to me. Your always welcome to poke your head in here and chat....TTYS.
P.S. Take a peek at all the photo's in my gallery, it's under 1968Droptop. There's some of the last two outings. Never mind all the drool on the pix of the Burgandy Sanger
