Ya big sissy....If both of 'em had quit turning you could have glided 46 miles. You want a real leg wetter? How about over the Atlantic and fuel exhaustion 145 miles (http://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20010824-1) from the nearest airfield?
And this from a guy who routinely drives stupid in a fast boat and posts videos about it..... :D :D :D

On the bright side...engine trouble at 35,000ft. feet beats the hell out of engine trouble at 50ft. :220v:

Good point, but I'm more worried about impact and fire protection. I know how to swim, I just don't bounce or burn very well. :D :D :D

Yep, and not sure anything with that much of an accumulation of peanut crumbs and ass perspiration is going to float anyway. :yuk: :rollside:

For all I know maybe he is... or a commercial pilot or was in a private or corporate jet. Just interested in the rest of the story.
Either way you are right, silence at 35K

been there done that. took off from burbank and when we got near phoenix the pilot made an announcement that we were making an emergency landing in phoenix because the plane was on fire and it was really starting to smoke. we came in to a runway with more fire trucks then you ever did see, we came down so fast we could barely stop and all most ran into the building at sky harbor.

If I am not mistaken, Jeff is not a pilot. He was here on business and flew commercially.

we were on our way to florida and thought of renting a car to drive to texas to get on another flight but that weekend was the nascar races in phoenix, no hotels and no car rentals, nice uh

Well, we landed OK...and I never thought I'd be so happy to see the "909".
The pilots "engine malfunction" meant there was a puddle (the size of the 737) of what looked like jet fuel on the ground after we parked.

How long of a window do I officially have before and/or after the event?
A week?
